Anyway, i'd like to point something out here, namely the mis-use of the word "liberal". It might be that "liberal" views in the US are traditionally linked to leftist ones, but that doesn't make them one and the same thing. In a "standard" multi-party system it would look something like this:
LEFT
->far-left :communists
->left: socialists
->leftish: green party, environmentalists at large
CENTRAL
->christian-democrats
RIGHT
->rightish: seperatist parties etc., not as common in every country tho
->right: liberal!
->far-right: fascists
So, "liberal" is a way of thinking, which is not pinned down to right or left, as the difference of orientation shows. So much for the educational half-hour, heh.
