Re: Good films..
Yea, I didn't really think it deserved the huge chunk of negativity it got. Don't get me wrong, there are problems, but it's a freaking Alien movie, basically. Just get over it and enjoy it for what it is.

Re: Good films..
Yeah. I think a lot of 'film critics' are now expecting some sort of epic masterpiece because the original Alien movies came out when they were young and as with everything when you're young they remembered them as these flawless works of art (they weren't). Same with how we think back to some games of our youth I'm sure.

Re: Good films..
Prometheus seems to be you either think it's the best thing or the worst possible prequel. Me and my mates were all disappointed (2 of them are huge alien fans, I've only seen the first one a looooooong time ago) and felt that while the first half was downright amazing the second half felt like they'd tagged in action for the hell of it and then tagged in a ton of questions just for the 2 sequels he is going to do (i.e. make money), however other huge alien fans I know loved it. *shrugs* I wouldn't say it was a bad film but it wasn't worth any of the hype it got either. Enjoyed it though.

Re: Good films..
Skyfall is pretty shit.
A generous 2/5
- Weak story. - Weak moral behind protagonist. - Weak character behind Bonds black lady colleague. - Some absurdly ridiculous action sequences, unlike Casino Royale. - A fair bit of "un-realism"... e.g. shit like shooting from the hip, not going prone for a difficult sniper-esque shot, running like a girl, gun sounds. - The story generally strewn with nonsense.

Re: Good films..
So has anyone seen The Hobbit yet? I still want to go see it but didn't get around to it yet. Waiting until the christmas holidays are over so the movie theatre won't be filled with little kids. And if you saw it, is the special 3D thing worth it?

Re: Good films..
Watched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." Its an inspirational film with a small touch of romantic sub-tone. I liked it. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0359950/?ref_=nv_sr_1Also watched "The Raid 2." Definitely worth watching for ultra violence fans. Very good action movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2265171/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Re: Good films..
Pretty much agree with those. Oblivion was way too predictable. Jack Reacher was a weird movie, it was like "this guy is a real bad ass" and then at one point in the movie he was a proby, was like what the f***.

Re: Good films..
Strangely enough, I agree with the Oblivion and Jack Reacher verdicts. How weird to agree with you guys. Didn't watch those other two, so no real comment. Other stuff I've watched recently. Edge of Tomorrow 3/5 - Not bad, but so much potential to be so much better. Maleficent 2.5/5 - Meh. I don't know why everyone raves about this one. I couldn't quite bring myself to give it 2 stars. :p Days of Future Past 4/5 - I liked it. Room for improvement, as always. I'm not entirely sure how Magneto survives being shot through the neck with a glass bullet. Raid 2 4/5 - for what it is (crazy violent asian movie) it's top notch. Plot and character development and whatnot could use some work, but that's not really the point. I liked the original Raid as well. I can't remember what else I may have watched recently.

Re: Good films..
I quite liked Edge of Tomorrow as well, especially for a Tom Cruise movie. Strangely Tom Cruise has appearedin a lot of movies I quite like (Minority Report is a good example), while I find him a pretty meh actor (not to mention his questionable personal pursuits). Maybe he has a knack for picking good scripts?
Loved Wolf of Wall Street. Made me feel equal parts disgusted, amused and enthralled.
I have been on a Marvel binge the last few days (watched the latest Thor and Captain America movies) and I am surprised at the general quality of these movies. They're walking the perfect line between cheesy and smart. Top notch production doesn't hurt either.

Re: Good films..
Ah, good call. I watched the last Thor and Captain America as well. I enjoyed both. Avengers too, if that wasn't mentioned recently.
I watched Interstellar in the theater with my department. I really liked it, though I think the rest of the people were bored stiff. That would be a 4/5 film for me. If it wasn't for some bad physics in one part and another part that had me rolling my eyes, I might have scored it 5/5.

Re: Good films..
Often times, the drones being bored and befuddled is a sign that a movie might actually be interesting.

Re: Good films..
My god, that's can't be case for The Imitation Game, surely. Might only be a Brit flick but my god what a borefest. Only the last 10% was high-tempo enough (when they crack the fucking enigma) and things start to happen, but before that it's cock-knawingly slow, un-funny and awkward. Plus, I don't really like the main actor (he looks somewhat freakish) but KEIRA KNIGHTLY i fucking hate with a passion. She has one of those protruding skeletal jaws one only dreams of delivering a shattering right-hook to.
The Imitation Game - 1/5
Oh, what enraged me most of all were the claims made throughout the film about the impact of having broken enigma: Shortened the war by 2 years, saving X million lives, won the battle of stalingrad, etc, etc. What a pile of horse spunk.
