Because you owned him at Alladin? I'd say he's kinda touchy if that was the case.

ok, I'm resurrecting a long dead thread to announce...
I'm finally reaching the end of the Lord of the Rings. I've been needing to read that series for awhile...of course, I still have the Two Towers and the final book to read, but bleh. Good stuff.

I am still only on book 9 or 10 of the wheel of time series - Robert Jordan - good series - I'm just a slow reader.

1000 freaking pages...gonna keep me busy for a while. And Satis, the dwarves are a lot tougher bastards in the books than in the movies aye?

I guess....there hasn't been a whole hell of a lot of combat thus far. The fellowship is about to leave from...err...the wood elf place...wherever the hell it is. With the elf chick with the ring. My memory rocks!

I never understood why LOTR-fans were so upset that Tom Bombadil (?) wasn't in the movie. A singing treehugger, great
Is the Wheel of Time series complete now Shiny? I read the first 5 (or 4 or 6) books i think but then i stopped reading because lack of time and i found out that the last book that was out wasn't the final book yet.
I love the series though. Gonna read again from book 1 .. dunnowhen.

no, the series still isn't finished. It's up to book 11 now and still going. I read it prior to Shiny reading it.
Tom Bombadil is a freak. I dunno what to make of him. But then again, LotR is a lot stranger than the movie makes it out to be.

Tolkien wasn't a writer by profession, so he made a lot of choices other writers wouldn't make. For example inserting unnecessary plot items like Tom Bombadil into the story. That's why it was such an easy and good decision to leave him from the movies, it doesn't further the story even one little bit (I usually skip that part when reading LOTR, along with the gay Sam-Frodo banter).

lol...yeah, I had my finger on the FF button during those scenes in the movies too. I don't mind watching a little emotional blah even if its between two men, two trees or two woodpeckers but enough is enough. It sometimes feels like 2/3rd of the movie is sam/frodo banter.

You can tell that Sam wants to have Frodo's baby.
The book isn't any better, though it makes Sam seem like a mental midget.

Yeah, cos he was such a genius in the movie
If that was me in the movie, I'd probably kick Frodo down the cliffs myself, or at the very least steal his ring. But then you know my morals when it comes to crisis situations. Screw women and children, I'll be the first to the rescue pods!

hah, leave the children behind. That way there aren't any accidents.
And what the hell has rescue pods? Space stations?
