Post Churchgoers Live Longer

There are many things you can do to increase your life expectancy: exercise, eat well, take your medication and ... go to church.

A new study finds people who attend religious services weekly live longer. Specifically, the research looked at how many years are added to life expectancy based on:

* Regular physical exercise: 3.0-to-5.1 years
* Proven therapeutic regimens: 2.1-to-3.7 years
* Regular religious attendance: 1.8-to-3.1 years

Conclusion: people that go to the church are on average more boring people then people who don't.

hmmm...let's do some math

1 hr / week * 52 weeks / year == 52 hours / year
52 hours /year * 70 years (average life expectancy, roughly) = 3640 hours
3640 hours = 151 days =~ 6 months.

so, of the 1.8 - 3.1 years you gain, you really only gain 1.1 - 2.5 years, not including travel time.

now, in 3640 Sunday hours, I can drink probaby 3 beers per hour, so 10,920 beers == 1,820 six-packs == 455 cases.

so, as elementary level beer math dictates

455 cases of beer > 2.5 years of additional life

thus, everyone should quit going to church and start drinking beer on Sunday. Or, at least, start drinking a little bit earlier.

Reason they live longer: couple hours extra sleep on a nice cosy pew never harmed anyone ;)

Or maybe its because they're terrorised by the thought of hell so much that they simply refuse to die?
