OK had shitty day at work so had to rant and see if it is just me - or people are stupid....
At my workplace we have a shelving unit type thing (think in a 2d excell speadsheet) it is 9 colums and 27 lines. I am given 17 companies for which I am to "organize" material for. The company would like this done alphabetical. Ok so i reason that some companies need more room than others and they want it neat so easiest solution would be to organize the companies going horizonally that way if one company needed more space it would be easy and every company would have at least one row to themself. Apparatly this is to confusing and they would prefer mixing companies on the same column. What the hell is the differend it is top down versus side to side - mind you each row would have been labeled.

I can't really make out what you mean (because I'm too lazy for comprehensive reading atm), but I catch your drift. It's like at my dishwashing job. They tell me "hey, carry this/that upstairs'. I'm like 'sure, i'll do it in a bit when I have to go upstairs anyway'; but the cook'd be like "no, I want you to do it NOW".


That's ridiculous. I know no one is going to use/need whatever I need to carry up that day anyway, so it doesn't matter if I do it then or 30 minutes later. So I need to climb the stairs twice for no apparent reason, and abandon the work I'm doing at the time. I just hate illogical stuff like that which gets me tired. Pointless work is ghey.

I know what you mean Shiny. Sometimes, at work i see guys who have been there 15 years do something stupidly innefficient. When it comes to me doing that same job, i figure out a better way of doing it, and theyre like 'Erm, no i think its better if you do the old way'.

It is plainly obvious, so at this point i just tell them 'yes ok', but go ahead and do it anyway.
