A british company makes a device similar to the guide

kinda neat. Uses a GPS to see where you are and automatically tells you about the area you're in and shizit.

That's pretty cool...I love it when the things you read about in books actually work out in reality. Especially when you're into 60's-70's SF there's a lot to be found right there.

I was rereading Do Androids Dream... for my thesis a few months back, and there's a mentioning of a device that, when used, plays a sort of vision the characters 'live' through (details are unimportant) that is shared by all people on earth or otherwise that are using their machines at that time.

It's only then that I realized: hey, that's basically the freaking internet! Internet gaming to be more precise. It's not quite exactly the same, but the similarities are there. :)

The concept is stupidly simple.

How's the movie btw?

And yeah it sounds simple allright, but those guys that came up with it might be cashing in big time.

I liked the movie although you need to read more than just first book to understand a lot of it (I myself am still working on it)

Enlighten me o shiny one, what books should i be reading. I bought the first one in Tenerife on holiday (to read in the plane or near the pool) turned out it wasn't the normal version (that too of course) but it had extra's about the film etc.

But what other books are you on, i might try to read them as well, if i can get my hands on them of course.

read:

Hitchihiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
and Farewell and Thanks for all the Fish.

I think those cover most of it. :) Though others will, I'm sure, have their own opinions.

Saw the movie tonight. I liked it a lot although some parts took a little long, but that's probably not a problem for people who've read the books.
