He was talking about KOTOR3 not KOTOR1. And quigon is supposedly Plagus reincarnated.

wait...how old is the emperor?
ok, let's say the Qui Gon was Plagus reincarnated. How old was Qui Gon when he got kacked? 30? older? And he got ganked about (roughly), what, 20 years before Anakin went darkside? That means that Sidious must've ganked his master at a minimum of 50 years prior to Anakin going darkside on us. This is assuming no time lag between Plagus getting ganked and Qui Gon being born. Not impossible, but jeez.
As for the KOTOR thing....1000 years is a long time. How can you call it "Knights of the Old Republic" when you go from 1000 years prior to the 'modern' timeline to 50 years.

I was thinking....what's so great about light sabres? From the games and the movies I have learned that weapons such as vibroblades are perfectly able to resist light sabres (ie they don't cut through them); so I was thinking: what is so special about them then?
I was thinking maybe their weight, making them easy to handle? Other than that I can ahrdly see an advantage

Vibroblades can't deflect lasers nor cut through everything i think.

yes, precisely. And you can't do light-saber throws with a vibroblade either. Main thing is deflection, I think. Plus portability. Carrying a sword is obvious...light sabers aren't.

yea i was talking about the whole convo about the light sabers and vibroblades. i mean while vibroblades are nice they don't do much damage unlike the lightsaber. It was kinda kewl to see them in the movie. But the jedi have to have something kewl after all they are jedi.

I think force-choke is pretty damn cool in-and-of-itself, much less using the force to throw shit around the room. Or doing flying somersaults out of crashing spacecraft. But I digress...
...lightsabers are simply a civilized weapon in an uncivilized time.
Though you have to wonder...how many people are running around in the Star Wars universe minus a couple limbs? I mean, how many hands/feet/legs/arms have been chopped off?

Myeah, I'm still not wholly convinced...light sabres might be more effective at slicing off limbs, but I'm pretty convinced that any hit scored by sword fighters at the lvl of jedi and their opponents is seriously lethal (if not immedeately then by incapacitating your opponent thus making for an easier kill), regardless of whether it's done with a sabre or a vibroblade.
Good points on the concealment and the slicing through doors, but let's face it, hardly battle skills those. As for deflecting lasers...probably, yeah. Though I'm pretty convinced that that lies more in the force than in the sabres. There's a skill in KOTOR II that allows you to deflect and even reflect laser shots without a lightsabre, by use of the force. And apart from that; an average person wielding a light sabre won't be able to use it to properly deflect shit because he doesn't have jedi reflexes....I think the throwing of lightsabres is more dependent of the force than of the weapons themselves, too.
So, it looks like light sabres are more of a neat thingie for practical purposes and a statussymbol than an actual super-duper battle weapon. The force plays a far greater role than the item itself....maybe I should take the test and play through KOTOR II again when I'm finished, only wielding regular blades.

Lightsabers are the best at cutting off limbs because the saber burns the nub so it doesnt bleed compared to a sword or knife which just cuts.

So you're saying that it would be ideal for amputations as well? Every surgeon should have a lightsaber then!
