Why did you let them take blood if you weren't getting rewarded J? General kindness, social awareness, the cookies you get? ;)

Well, it was at the uni itself where you could donate, so with a couple of friends we went over there, lying pretty comfortable, talking about this and that, filling time between parties. You did get a free consumption btw, i always took Geuze :P

But i've been thinking i should start giving blood/plasma again, so it's social awareness and kindness as well. But atm i'm too lazy to figure out where i have to go to (and i don't have time now).

wtf is gueze?

Anyway - look at giving blood this way.

Sure, one day, my blood MAY save someones life, BUT, and more importantly, if I need blood, my OWN blood my save MY life.

Heh.

They also offered coca cola and such. Sometimes (when it was really cold) i took a hot soup. But most of times alcohol, yeah. :D

Mmm..well, respect. I don't donate blood for two reasons: I'm not too happy at the idea of someone draining my blood (but not that I'd mind if it was réally necessary), and most importantly: I don't trust other ppl having samples of my blood. Call me paranoid but bleh. Now I'll prolly get hit by a bus and die of excess blood loss tomorrow.

Luckily I have a fairly common bloodgroup, iirc. :P

lol. Fair enough. :)

It's not so much that I'm worried about cloning, it would be pretty cool if all clones were me's = general rise in the world population's coolness. I'm more worried about my blood being used to frame me in this or that matter. I'm hopelessly paranoid, nevermind. :P

lol, holy shit, Ox is insane. Wait, already knew that, nevermind.

That's crazy...they feed you beer while draining your blood. I wish they'd do that here. I bet more people would donate. I used to love giving blood in the Army...get you half a day off, plus smoking a cigarette right afterward was a great buzz.

Unfortuanetly, due to stupid new laws, I can no longer give blood in the US.

Why, Satis, Why? You ask.

Because I lived in Europe for a total of x years since 1980 (4 or something). That's right. Because I lived in Europe when mad cow disease roughly happened, I am no longer allowed to donate blood. Go retarded legislation.

Haahaahhaahgrablespluttercough

*ahem*

So they won't let you give blood on the grounds that you are a mad cow? whoops, i mean, that you might be contaminated with Mad Cow Disease?

That's pretty fucked up right there.

Surely they can test you for it?

Yeah that seems pretty fucked up to me as well.

On a bright side: i decided to do something with my life (finally) and change the direction in which i was looking for a job. And with succes, i just had 2 weeks in which i was a teacher

That's right, i'm serieusly considering becoming a full time teacher. This was only temporary, but i liked it very much. SO i guess my future lies in teaching the wonders of science to 16-18 year olds. I don't know who's worst off, me or those poor kids. :P

yea, definetley the kids. Poor, muddled future generations.

As for the mad cow disease, only way to test for it is to take a same of brain tissue or spinal fluid or whatever, so it's not that easy. Funny how they just legislated away the use of all blood from Europe, though. I'm sure the law will change eventually. Freaks.
