potatoes are great. Bake em. Slice em up and fry em. Bake em, then slice em up and fry em. Slice em up, wrap them with butter and onion in some aluminum foila nd throw em on a grill. Combine em with mushrooms, onion and butter and, well, fry em. Endless possibilities. I went camping last weekend with shiny and we wrapped potatoes up in tin foil and buried them in the coals of our fire. Mildly overcooked, but still very edible.
Anyway, my brandied shrimp fetuccini:

I've had to tweak the recipe a bit, but going with the defaults work. Biggest bitch is peeling all that goddamn shrimp.

steak
by far an away the best food ever
along with (properly cooked) roast beef and roast potatoes
and your right traditional english food isn't exactly imaginative. i.e. pies, and pasties, basically food for poeple who work down a mine. Put all your meal in some really thick pastry, you can eat it with your fingers and then throw the pastry away. that's what they were originally made for anyway.
and brie is damn good cheese, can't stand blue cheese....rockfort is literally the worst thing ever

A separate thought:
It seems that i dont enjoy food cooked by my myself. This could be for 2 reasons. 1) Some deep and interesting psycho-analytical reason. 2) My cooking tastes shit.
I love my sandwiches though!

hehe, cooking is just a matter of making time for it. Not everyone likes to spend an hour or longer cooking. I usually don't either, btw.
/me makes no comment about vegemite
