Haha, robot-controlled earth, here we come! They should make robots for screwing. Make love, not war! lol.

Yeah i've seen something about that on tv (i think discovery channel). It was mainly for urban warfare purposes in that particular example, to avoid human casualties as said. Earlier models had stun-guns instead of real guns though, but they were radio-controlled, with camera's, blabla, as in the article. Those things had good and fast aim, really surprised me.

Strange thing though was that there HAD to be a soldier with the robot, to confirm a target, so that the robot would not shoot an innocent or something. Imo that was strange, you use robots to avoid getting humans in the line of fire, but you send soldiers with. And things have to be decided in fractions of a second.

But i guess that's the future, having robots do the dirty work. Maybe we'll be playing Total Annihalation, but then for real. yeah.

ps: i deliberately ignored the ox-screwing robot issue, you want goats = fine, but robots ..

It's the next lvl of porn baby! erh..so, it's like someones's in the command center playing a "game" on a vid screen? That rocks. Being a 1337 commando without actually getting killed. It'll also benifit you when you're in a war with me, seeing as to my sell-out tendencies. :P ;)

Hold on. Theres a bit of an issue here (7 mins till lecture).

The purpose of war is to kill people because people have high value. If everyone starts making robots to kill people, there will need to be robots that kill robots to kill people.

A nuke could save a lot of time, effort and money. Here comes nuclear war!

nah. It'll turn into economic wars. It'll be a competition of who can build better robots, who can build more robots, and who can afford to continue building robots. Whoever runs out of robots first loses.

Nuclear war is still a bad idea because it destroys the infrastructure and makes the area you conquered uninhabitable.

Isn't that why we have the neutron bomb?

I'd rather think that E-bombs (Electromagnetic Bombs) come in very handy for disabling all robots (since they're electrical devices basically, very enhanced but still electrical).

For more info, check for instance: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... ns/hpm.htm

So you disable the robots, and get back to fighting human vs human again.

neutron bombs kill people, not robots. Boomp, large radiation dose, everything dies, architecture stays standing. That may have been your point. Anyway, the US is the only country sophisticated enough to build these (probably). They also don't exist, supposedly. A quick-dispersal nerve gas or a virus with a really short timer would work just as well, without irradiating anything else along the way.

Electromagnetic Pulse bombs might work against robots. Except that machinery can be hardened against EMP. With an external antenna, though, that's very hard to do. So they'd have to be made mainly autonomous. heheh.

Still I think as soon as the robots run out people will pick up a gun again themselves... there'll still be casualties, just on one side.

Skynet has already taken over, j00 f00ls! It is my internet provider:

www.skynet.be

Me and my friends are continiously wondering if the brand name was an accidental pick or a practical joke. In any case, it's the biggest provider in Belgium and offers good, decent ADSL. So, yay Skynet.

There's a CyberDyne systems too. They have an office semi-near me.

Couldn't find much official, but here's a little snippet.

http://www.mohrpartners.com/about/newsdetail.asp?id=67

For anyone not as nerdy, that was the company that built SkyNet and all that happy stuff.

And wtf is foxdie: http://foxdie.timduru.org/ ?
