it's the meaning of life, the universe, and everything, of course. Which must include the number of times Derf's clicked his mouse.

You know, that in "a" theory of multiple universes, when there's a chance derf can click the mouse, and he clicks or not, an additional universe is created where the opposite happened.
Just think about how many universes derf created!!

If you have a chance to grab some busty chick's shit, but decided not to, was there an alternate universe created in which you did? Yes, of course.
Shroedinger's cat, eh? Are her tits hairy, or are they hairless? Until you remove her shirt, they're both.

back to the topic, (a bit of a step back in time). I think a mod as such would eat processing time and bandwidth.

If you wanted to run it real-time, then it would take some processing power. No point in that though. You could just update it with a cron job.
Regarding bandwidth, even if you ran it real time, bandwidth would not be noticably affected.

@ derf
No, I say it would not take much more than calculating nr. of posts while storing and few 10x ns more when viewing. So, humans shall not feel the difference... well, if you do the job by optimal way.
Tip for redheads: If you make php call undependable dll which use threads to get data while viewing, this would be considerable faster (more users on the generated page, more efficient than- ) than getting the nr. of posts.
