That whole "you don't think like the government thinks so you're unpatriotic" things sounds a lot like communistic rhetorics to me.

And the US is not the only place with strange anti-smoking laws. In the Netherlands smoking will be banned in coffeeshops, here not used mainly for drinking coffee but smoking herbs. :?

No, those places were meant for smoking grass.
I don't know how they got the name coffee shop in the first place.

It's legal to smoke it and to own it and to sell it, but not to grow it in large amounts.
That is because America and France have always complained about legalization of soft drugs over here and we have to keep those people happy some way or another.

Indeed.

Amsterdam's the only place I know of where you can go into a shop, sit down, order something (nonalcoholoic) to drink and peruse a menu of marijuana and hashish.

"Yes, I'd like 5 grams of Purple Haze please, and 3 grams of Nepalese hash."

Some places even allow sampling, or so I've been told.

What's the point of making it illegal to smoke cigarettes where it's legal to smoke weed/hash? Seems pretty pointless... kinda like outlawing smoking on a highway or something.

Hehehe...i think there's only two real religious ppl on here, so not many prolly. :)

As for Amsterdam...i must draw the attention that weed is legal in Belgium as well, not just in Holland..we're the only two countries in the world, and our police is less strict lol.

You can also use and grow amounts for "personal use" over here, legally. There's a ridiculous technicality which doesn't allow the actual sale of it tho :/ But they're working on that atm. But that's not a problem, you can buy it easily enough. And if not; Holland is real close by (hour drive from most faraway point in Belgium), and we don't have any border controls anymore since the EU. :D

There are entire Dutch towns that practically live of Belgian coffeeshop tourists lol. In short: Except for coffeeshops weed is just as legal over here as in Holland. But you don't need a coffeeshop anyways, any self-respecting bar owner won't have any problem with you smoking your herbs in his joint.

P.S. "traiterous" in my previous post obviously was "treacherous"...stupid english :/ ;)

It's also legal in some Swiss cantons. There people even smoke ganja in the train.
