the bmp you uploaded didn't have a valid file header. Try resaving it as a gif or jpeg.

Its a small image, and the quality will get lost if i convert to jpeg or gif.

um yes, really.

Try taking a jpeg photo of your face, save it as BMP and compress it to 80*80. Then save as jpeg.

result = quality loss.

Guess ill have to install Photoshop. Damn shitty MS Paint.

well thats why you lose quality, cause your using Ms Paint. When you use a real imaging program you dont lose that quality.

heh...quality loss depends on the format, the picture composition, and with jpeg, especially the compression.

If you take a bmp and compress it with jpeg with 0% compression, you'll have a hell of a time noticing a difference. If there isn't alot of color fading (ie, solid chunks of color, not gradients of color) then gif will work great too.

You can also go the PNG route...that's a great and very underestimated format.

BMP is a lossless format and great for imagine manipulation, but bad for the web because it's completely uncompressed and thus large.
