*Kciks Windows*
Ok peeps, mole apparently has sorted this out once before, but he forgot coz he's dumb. Anyway, when you're on the 'net, you get these messages pop up saying "blah blah blah, press ok" with an ok button. Hope you know what i mean. Anyway apparently somewhere in the registry you can edit to stop these coming through, but does anyone remember/know where and what this is? i'm on xp just in case the entries are different.

I think you mean the messenger service. Change to 'disabled'

yea, I plan on adding Messenger to that list next time I edit it. I've got a list of about 4 more services I need to add.
Anyway, yea, messenger service. Or, if you're behind a firewall/router, kill tcp port 135.

If you ever get spyware, get this prog called AdAware. (You probably know this).
Sometime the solution is simply format your HD and install Win again.
Either that, or switch to Linux.

ok i did that this morning and i've been online for about 6 hours now without any messages coming through. Thanks you guys!
Ox: i dont think it's msn OR windows messenger, it's like a network type thingy...can't be bothered to explain, just appears as a grey box (like an error box) saying whatever, then with an ok button.

It's windows messenger, which is supposed to be used for administrative alerts on a LAN or something. What Ox pointed out is MSN Messenger, which is something else.

lol, for fuck sake i dont spam. listen this is whats going on. I have a slow internet connection so it takes a while for me to download theses pages, and when i do, i only find it worthwhile to post something (anything) rather than just waiting 10 seconds and hitting the back buton. thats just boring.

You have a point here, but you could put a little more effort in it than just posting "that's right".
Do it the Jan Jansen way: That reminds me of ...
