Well I sought support at the lavasoft (the creators of Add Aware) lavasoft (the creators of Add Aware) support forums
Those guys helped me out with this.

But a quick summary: I had to update the reference file of Add Aware and then remove the spyware (I had the stuff quarantained so I'd placed them back), and for openme I had to go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\current version\Winlogon and at "shell=Explorer.exe openme.exe" delete the openme part.
Everything is working fine now though.
