  Well I sought support at the lavasoft (the creators of Add Aware) lavasoft (the creators of Add Aware) support forums
Those guys helped me out with this. The topic is here But a quick summary: I had to update the reference file of Add Aware and then remove the spyware (I had the stuff quarantained so I'd placed them back), and for openme I had to go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\current version\Winlogon and at "shell=Explorer.exe openme.exe" delete the openme part. Just a suggestion. You might want to trySearch and Destroy. I used Ad Aware before, but found Search and Destroy to be MUCH better.
