I'm seriously considering replaying this with a boat-load of mods. There are soooo many out now since the game is not so new.
I'll probably pass on the main quest though.

From my three attempts the one i enjoyed the most was playing a thieflike character trying to sneak up and backstab stuff whenever possible.

Considering doing the same since I never finished the game. Got bored with it. Really what I would like it to get a new rig then play it.

slight update. I'm still trying to get into this. I installed a bunch of mods which have generally made the game better, but there are still some niggly aspects that crop up every now and then I feel the need to install a mod to fix. For example, right now i've realised / remembered that enemies in dungeons respawn after 3 days, which is extremely lame for me. What sense does that have for someone who wants to clear the dungeon in the first place.
The mods i'm running are:
alternate start = start off as a sailor just landed in anvil, without the burden of the main quest
arrow velocity = arrow flight speeds according to type
a bloody mess = blood stains after battle. doesnt work to my knowledge
capes and cloaks = adds them. kinda gay
deadlier traps = duh
harvest flora = harvested plants disappear until respawned
living economy = not sure but i think its changes alot of stuff... whatever.
map marker overhaul = doesnt work
saddlebags = adds saddlebags for loot, but i dont plan on using horse
merchants buy stolen goods = duh
mountain shack = adds a house. not visited it yet
natural habitat = adds a bunch of changes to the weather and shit
obscuro's oblivion overhaul = massive mod changing alot. makes game much harder though
portable campsite = deploy bedroll and sleep
VA better gold = adds weight to gold and ability to drop specified amount
vaults of cyrodiil = supposedly adds "vaults" but havent stumbled across one yet
za bankmod = adds a bank but i dont need it... yet
real lights = i think it adds lighting to windows at night.
must train = training limit of 5 per level removed
Anyway, need to get that spawn thing fixed to play.

oh and another thing i should mention ... it's now a fucking PITA to mod Oblivion unlike back in the day.
There are utilities like OBMM and OBSE that have to be used now to get some mods running and they totally kill my morale since I have no idea what the fuck they are or how the fuck them work.
I blame the fucking nerds with zero heuristics skills.

Here are some patches/mods you may be interested in. Some (many?) may be out of date by now.

If you link me to updated versions, I'll update the page accordingly. Qarl's texture pack is a must, imo.

The unofficial patch probably isn't fed by Steam automatically, so you may want to consider that one too. The LoD updates and shit are nice too. Just beware if your PC may not be powerful enough to push it... no clue what your system is like now.

Well, seems my Oblivion escapade has been stopped short. I can't seem to find a way to reduce the spawn rate, which is a game killer imo.

The last time I tried to play Oblivion I had Obscuro's thing installed and it just made the game too hard. Every fight was deadly, and some of the harder thing were damned near impossible. I don't mind some challenge, but too much of a challenge burns me out. Oh well. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are great games, imo, but I don't see myself playing them again.
