you need to talk to the sewer golem to unlock the sewer doors first to get to the mistresses room.

Since he's stuck in the first dungeon, i would classify him as 'noob' probably.

Anyway, when you enter the room, a bell will start to sound, so you i think you know if you've been there or not.

AH, bj has a point here, maybe you haven't activated the sewer golem yet. In that case you haven't seen that room yet, and you're stuck earlier than i thought.

anyway, you need a activation stone for that, prolly have found that. then you can go into dialogue with the sewer golem and tell him to start his duty.
