Known it was in the works for ages, but finally officially announced:

http://www.dragonage.com/inquisition

The only points really "revealed"

The next game will be called Dragon Age III: Inquisition.
We won't be talking about the story of the game today. Though you can make some guesses from the title.
This game is being made by a lot of the same team that has been working on Dragon Age since Dragon Age: Origins. It's composed of both experienced BioWare veterans and talented new developers.
We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization. We've started with Frostbite 2 from DICE as a foundation to accomplish this.

I just hope they take the reaction to DA2 to heart and go back to DA1 at least partially. Of all the people I know who played and liked DA1, almost no one even bothered to buy DA2 because it looked so crap compared to the original. That's quite the effort if you think about it, alienating people who actually liked the first part of the saga and were invested in it by pitching completely wrong design choices on almost every point.

DA 1 was awesome. The expansion wasn't so great. Everything about DA2 looked so bad I didn't bother. They need to work really hard at DA 3 if they expect to get my attention again. It's too bad, too... they could've had a Baldur's Gate on their hands.

Yeah, I'm kinda hoping Project Eternity will be the game that will bring RPG's back to party-based epic storylines ( and intricate character building/combat) after the bizzarre turn the DA saga took.

Niall has found some quote somewhere (I haven't seen it) that they're inspired by Skyrim and want a more open world again than #2. So fingers crossed. I did enjoy DA2 but #1 was far superior

Yea, I know you actually liked DA #2, and that's certainly your prerogative. It just didn't seem to accentuate the things I liked. I hadn't heard about the Skyrim influence, but if it's true, then that's good at least. It's that wide open freedom that really makes a game like that totally epic to me.

E3 trailer, of course not much in it but still intriguing.

Yeah doesn't look too bad. Also, Morrigan. :)

Leaked pre-alpha gameplay, not sure how long the vid will stay up. Looks interesting, liking a lot of it, they blatantly stole some stuff from Skyrim and the graphics do look to be going more cartoony again. Mixed feelings at the moment.

Got it. Loving it. Only level 8 and found a dragon. It was clearly scared of my level 8-ness. Running the game on Ultra graphics and it looks amazing.

Mm, turns out this game is supposed to be really really good. I'm surprised tbh, but pleasantly so! :)

Quote:
It’s self-contained, despite drawing on so much history that has already been written – much of which is affected by player choices in the previous games. Those who aren’t up to date with the series or have lost data can make all those choices before they begin. And everyone with the slightest interest in dungeons, dragons or dialogue should begin. With Inquisition, BioWare have handled the narrative and consequence of conversation and action with more assurance and depth than Telltale, while also constructing one of the finest and most forward-looking CRPGs ever made.

And I’m as delighted and surprised as anyone.

Tempted to get it now. But kinda feel like I should play Dragon Age 2 first now. :-/

Haha yeah I thought that myself when I realised the position my char ended up in!

You could get away with not playing #2 Ox, I know most of you didn't much like what you saw/played in the demo. You can always go on Dragon Age Keep (through Bioware's site) and made the major decisions there if you want to set up a world state, or just go with whatever the set one is for Inquisition. Inquisition is good though - so far the combat seems to be slightly tougher than #2 but still a lot easier than Origins, however I haven't fought anything "big" yet, just bandits/templars/mages/wolves/bears. I'm level 9, no specialisation yet, just a regular mage. It is a bit tougher because you no longer having healing spells (though revive is still in one of the mage trees), just potions and you can only carry 8 in your party in one go, plus a few other potions on each character (lyrium/rejuv/grenades etc). You're also restricted to 8 skills equipped at one time, though so far I still only have 4 on my main character as I've been taking a lot of passives. Story-wise and character-wise it's more of the same, plenty of random character chat when you're out and about, some hilarious moments, lots of back story, quests and romances. It certainly looks beautiful too

Yea, the reviews I saw for this game were overwhelmingly positive. I'm very glad to see that. I'll pick it up eventually, though with my game backlog it'll probably be awhile. Still... very cool. I'm glad they decided to do what they did.

Yeah it's definitely good, a little glitchy so maybe wait til after Christmas at the least, see if they do patches. Nothing gamebreaking though (I did get stuck in a menu at one point as couldn't click anything so had to quicksave/quickload with the F keys and it worked fine after that)

Found a dragon that wanted to fight the other day. It was level 12, I was 9, got a ton of awesome screenshots and while it killed me I did get it down to about 2/3rds of its health before getting horribly massacred.
