I can't be bothered with working today. I've been playing some Castle of the Winds...I'm sure at least one of you played it too. Easy install, simple but intricate gameplay, nice writing.

Never played it (or heard of it), but it reminds me of Castle Adventure a lot. I used to play it when I was small and didn't know any English word, despite having to type English commands to play the game, which I learned along the way. |

Dammit Ox! I still need to finish this game. It is awesome, but so hard, sometimes you go to the first level and you just find rats, other times you go there and a damn goblin eats you up with a snake poisoning your ass! ... been trying to finish this damn game ever since you told me about it waaaaaaaaaaay back in '02 while I was at uni and had no sound = no decent games either. One day... |

Lol, snakes and hobgoblins are a piece of cake for me now.  It only takes me one blow to kill them, and I'm a magic user...just sayin'. They've been replaced by manticores, stone giants, horned devils, abyss fiends, bear-men, vampires and other nightmarish creatures.  I die. A lot. It's hard indeed...playing at medium difficulty and getting my ass handed to me over and over again.
But, I made it to level 20 of 25 in the dungeon of castle of the Winds part 2 (the previously non-shareware, bigger part of the game). I plan to finish it today.
Dammit Pev, you just need more perseverance!!

Haha, you can download the entire saga (part 1 and 2) on the creator's homepage http://www.exmsft.com/~ricks/castl11a.zip Part 1 is relatively easy and short, but you'll slave over part 2  A 25-lvl dungeon!!
My character was totally pimp by the end but still struggled sometimes. |
