I thought there would be a topic for this already, but couldn't find it.
Anyway, there's now a trailer that says absolutely nothing about the game. Watch it here.

Lol, great. So what can we expect gamewise, any info about that?

Not much. Here is a list of things the Bioware people have said about the game in the past. I'm not sure how much of it is still true though.

The RP game that time forgot, when they finally bring this out it would probably have to be the best game since BG2 given the time they have taken.

And yeah, the lack of information is just staggering!

A disguised BG3 would be nice

Sorry, but i dont agree with you on that. In my eyes the BG saga is perfect, it has a great beginning, fantastic story and an epic closure, It should be left like that.

They COULD've closed it in BG3 instead in BG2. Now BG3 could explain what happened between BG1 and BG2.

Nah, let BG rest. No need to resurrect such a storyline. Interplay already misused the name for a couple of worthless RPG games and I don't want to see that happen again. There are enough games with endless sequels already.

I hope nobody would complain about a remake, in Oblivion-like skin. :)

I wouldn't necessarily be against a remake of BG1 into a modern game engine. So long as they kept all the things that made BG1 so great... the story, characters, voice acting, and maybe most importantly the sandbox nature of the exploration.

I would rather see Deus Ex: IW remake and in every possible way.

Lol, funny how a throwaway comment causes such debate :D

About BG thing: Most of missions from Delta Force 1 have been remade in Delta Force: Xtreme. And they are better or even awesome in comparison to what they were. If it only could be still as hard as DF1. DF: Xtreme sacrifices hardness to provide more fun. And it was fairly easy with enough nerves even before.

Imagine the feeling a sniper who lies in snow for hours has when he piss blood aftermath. It's the feeling you get if you try hard to enjoy yourself in DF1. ;)

So, a remake can bring pros and cons every time. (that was the point) Making a verbatim copy without involving something new would be sentenced to being worse than the original.

only serious problem I see with a BG remake is that the developers would probably be forced to use the D&D 3.5 rules (or whatever it's up to now). To me, the new rules just aren't the same. When I was gaming it was the 2.0 rules...with some 1.0 mixed in for spice. The newer versions just aren't the same.

Ah well, it'll probably never happen, but it's nice to dream. :D

True. Wizards of the Coast forces developers to use the latest rules. That's partly why Bioware decided to create their own IP with Dragon Age, so they have everything in their own hands. For the same reason they developed Mass Effect so they could make Star Wars games without Lucas Arts breathing down their necks.
