How much you want to bet you spend half the game using your 'other' characters to search for Shepherd? Then the other half you have shepherd back in order to defeat some sort of menace?

Long interview with Bioware people, talking about ME2 (if you import a savegame from ME1 your game will have a different start, for one), Dragon Age, The Old Republic and so forth. Also some new footage in there.

Can't you still import saves then? With the consoles having a HD now, I mean.

And man, I can only imagine what the consequences of my choices must be. I sold state secrets to the press for hard cash, then threatened them, put that bastard ambassador Udina in charge instead of the noble captain Anderson, acted out any xenophobic tendendies and pretty much performed genocide over and over again. Yeah...gona be a brave new world.

Can't wait for E3 now :) I alwas thought ME2 would be a lot better than the original, kinda like BG2 upped the epicness of the original to even greater heights. Part 1 was good to great, but there was a lot of "don't you know that.." and other expositions on the history and situation of the ME universe which slowed the pace for me. Don't get me wrong, I undrstand the necessity of it all in a new universe like the one of ME, but that doesn't mean it doesn't detract a little from the game. ME2 should be able to do away with a lot of these (minor) issues.

And it's good to hear my choices of ME1 will carry through. :) Threatening the press, committing genocides, ignoring orders, installing senator Udina instead of Captain Anderson on the council...good times.

Yea every time i read your list it just brings an ear to ear smile on my face. I wouldn't be surprised if you got a sign saying "you are not allowed to play this game, you sadistic butcherer" :D

Very interesting ME2 news:

http://blogs.ign.com/BW_MassEffect/2009/06/17/123208/

[quote]The Suicide Mission Concept

In Mass Effect 2, you (as Commander Shepard) are faced with what appears to be a suicide mission: taking a team into the heart of enemy territory where you shouldn’t have any chance of coming back alive. Your survival therefore is based on how well you’ve built a team – who you recruited, how well-equipped they are, and whether they’re loyal to you. Loyalty (and the things you’ll do to earn it) is a central part of the game, and it is critical to Shepard surviving the final mission.

Paragon / Renegade decisions affect a lot of things in the game - and will affect which how the game ends - but they are completely separate from your character’s readiness to survive the final mission.

When we say that Shepard can die in Mass Effect 2, it’s not something that happens at points in the middle of the game. Yes, you can “dieâ€

I'm getting the feeling that ME is like a huge test project for the SW game.

You're saying that as if it's a bad thing.

No but I'm honestly excited about ME2, I think it'll be great. I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of the game suffering under the production of The Old Republic.

No, i had no intention of that sounding as "bad." What i mean is that they take the interaction and stuff from ME universe, expand it and simplify it (because 90% of mmo gamers are idiots in their purest form) allowing them to create character interaction and story unlike in any other MMO which is a good thing.

To understand what im talking about, imagine that your ME squad is actually an instance of an MMO and you are clearing this instance with a team under AI control. Now they have to figure out what would be different if they were actually humans with a will of their own.

It kinda saddens me knowing that the ME franchise is on the break point of its life cycle, soon enough its closing time.

Good post. :)

Did you know that Bioware is seriously considering making the dialogue parts in Sw:OR unskippable? Partially to accomodate for a team dialogue system, partially to avoid the WoW-style "click quest giver - don't read text, just accept mission - check map, travel there" grinding crap.

I think The Old Republic will be very much unlike any MMORPG we know. It'll be more like playing a huge version of KOTOR I or II with other people (if you want), probably with additional 'grinding areas/parts' to please that crowd. All in all, much les kiddies though.
