You are as smart as Boo sometimes!
Yeah so I decided to start BG2 again. Go me. Why? I was watching a film (based on wing commander apparently) and it had either Jon Irenicus or a guy that sounded exactly like him in it. So here I go... my zillionth attempt to actually finish the game. I would find out my old save game since I was on chapter 4, but something got glitched in that and I couldn't advance any further. Shame really, it was my BG1 char with the pantaloons, but oh well.
So anyway I've rolled an Archer with racial enemy of Umber Hulks (god I hate those... though I do wish I could have Imoen as my racial enemy). And for the first time ever I can have 5* in a weapon, longbow, so that should be pretty fun. I've got 18 constitution and fairly high everything else (low intelligence, who needs that and my charisma is only 10) but most other stuff is at about 13 or 14 I think. Figuring I'll go through with just the one pc for now, then if I ever complete the game I may make my own full party. Usually I'd just play IWD for a full pc party but there are no wild mages in that and I've always fancied trying one out.
But yeah, figured I'd keep you updated on if I get further than before, wish me luck! Oh, and Ox, if you have a link for the mod featuring us, please link or send it, I'd love to *finally* see our in-game incarnations.

Go, go for it, pev. We're here to push where you get stuck.
Geez, it cheers me up that someone else is playing BG.

Hehehe, actually, the mod was abandoned by the maker far along the development process. Real shame cos it was looking good and was nearing completion. I DID see our in-game incarnations, however!
While playtesting I encountered them and they were quite amusing. I actually have a copy of the mod lying around somewhere on a cd, but that's without the pathes and fixes. I don't think we'd even get to 'us' ingame without the patches. Kinda like a raw Windows XP install.
Anyway Pevster, hope you enjoy BG2 and FINISH IT!! You really should, the storyline only gets better and better! More Irenicus.

If i weren't so busy for school i would start over myself. Everytime someone starts over either BG or IWD i get the urge to do it as well.
Btw Pev, if you would need the golden pantaloons you could add them through shadowkeeper of course. But since you won't be needing them till you get deep in ToB, just make sure you get there first.
Oh and i assume you didn't install any mods since you didn't mention them?

They are available behind the painting on BG2 start if your char had them in the inventory as s/he was exported. If you wanna do it 'legally', you can just play BG1 over again. You do not need to finish it. Just take the pants at Friendly Arm Inn and reach the XP max - greater basilisks are quite a good way. It may take less then 4hrs to do that.
Yay to Jonnie: "I cannot be caged. I cannot be controlled. Understand this as you die, ever pathetic ever fools."

I thought it was: "even as you die"?
Irenicus is certainly one of the greatest computer game villains of all time.

Extracted from English dialog.tlk: "Understand this as you die, ever pathetic, ever fools!"
Yeah. He's great. And the reason is that his words are adequate to his deeds plus usage of rather "scientific" and "subtle" than "vulgar" and "brutal" expressions. He didn't use the other, even in his fall.

Aw come on GFree, as if i don't know how to obtain the golden pantaloons. You insult my BG-knowledge
I just don't think that Pev is going to run through BG1 as well, and since she had no previous save game, shadowkeeper would help her more than anyting else.
And yes: Irenicus is one of the greatest bad guys ever.

hehe yeah I can't be bothered running through BG1 again right now, may sometime but who knows. You're correct, no mods, I never bother with them though I will no doubt get shadowkeeper when I get to ToB for the pantaloons. I'm pretty sure I do still have my BG2 save somewhere that was my BG1 char but since our stuff is in storage atm, I'm not going to find the CD
Ox, thats a shame, I knew you'd seen us in-game because I remember the screenshot hehe. Ah well. Never mind.
I'd forgotten how tiresome Irenicus' dungeon is; the number of times I've done it I know it back to front and it drives me insane having to do it each time, but Jon makes up for it, the guy is indeed a genius. All hail Irenicus! hehe.
Oh it was kinda odd as well, I'm sure you all remember the hour long (or so it feels) install for BG with its 5 discs... well I have the DVD version they re-released recently now as well, and installed from that... it was done in 5 mins. I've been robbed of half the BG experience!

@J:
"Don't take it so hard; I am just better than you."
Joke by side, my intention was only to add to what you've said, J, not to correct it. No insult so far.

I bought the IWD 3pack and BG 4pack, since they were so cheap and well the previous copies were somewhat "from the darkside"
Anyway, my cousin is currently playing BG2 and having a blast. Some time ago i tried to go through BG2 myself but some game interfered, which i have now forgotten because if i cant remember it, it obviously sucked.
BG 4 EVER!

Indeed I did mr joke, its BG1 + exp, and BG2 + exp on 4 dvds. Not played on it in a few days though, not been on the pc. It also slows down so far though... frame rate is horrible, but that may be because I fiddled around with some of the settings so I'll probably default it and start again.
