Been listening to tracks from the various C&C games' soundtracks during work all morning. Gets you pumped for Monday. :D

I played Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge since my main machine is broken, and god they're both still such great games. I've always found RA2 to be the pinnacle of the C&C series, and replaying it confirmed to me that it wasn't just nostalgia but actually true. The graphics are crisp and beautiful 2.5D, the gameplay is great classic base building RTS stuff, the AI is just smart enough to be challenging without being frustrating, the balance between the different factions is great, and the units, universe and FMV acting is just superbly silly. It all works together so well. :)

Don't get me wrong, I like the other C&C games as well (not C&C4 obviously, that was a steaming pile of shit), but RA2 is just so much fun to play.

I can't play RA 2 any more :( My rig doesn't have disc drive, and if you use a no cd or daemon tools etc, it make all your units explode within the 1st 60 seconds of gameplay :(

I love that game :(

I remember there being a tool which created an image of the cd and let one mount it on a virtual drive so no dvd was necessary.

But no idea what it was, haven't needed such for more than 10 years. Steam.

Actually, EA has given away Red Alert 2 for free quite recently, and while the promotion has ended you can still find it as an easily usable .exe on most common sharing sharing sites these days. So no need for mounting images etc. :)
