Not to be an ass, but it seems like a lot of the reasons you were slamming X-com for are also in this game, but you still carry on and enjoy this one. :)

True but here the rule of randomness still applies. Compared to this the new xcom is a rail shooter. JA-Bia is by no means the epic tactical game i want everyone to play. Its a complicated mess but ultimately results are determined by n+ factors unlike in x-com where specific actions always bring about the same result ie flanking the enemy always gives 75% hit regardless of distance etc. In JA if i move my squad mate too close to the line of fire of another squad mate his chance to hit is affected by this. Also even if he has the line of sight then obstacles on the path factor into this hit chance. Underneath JA system is far more complicated. More choice and more course of actions and helluva lot more opportunities to commit suicide.

In conclusion i don't believe JA BIA is a gaming experience you must have but in terms of tactical combat i do believe it to be a superior game to the new x-com.

Yeah, RPS had it in its top 3 for game of the year as well. They went with Far Cry 3 for the actual goty though.
