I bet that this, like most games created due to a TV show's popularity, will suck big furry monkey balls.

Post Re: The Walking Dead
*uses Rod of Resurrection*

Well, I got this game during the Steam sale and played it episode by episode (there are 5 in season 1) over the past 2 months. And I'm happy to say that, for once, Satis' gut feeling was off. :) The Walking Dead is a triumph in terms of narration. It grabbed me by the balls from beginning to the end, and probably stirred some of the most sincere emotion in me than almost any game has ever managed to.

It's strange, in a way, since the series has some very clear drawbacks. There isn't a whole lot of "game" under the hood at times, that is to say most of it is a series of conversations, QTE's, static action sequences and some adventure-puzzley stuff, but it just works. The characters are believable and incredibly well voice-acted, and the choices the game puts on you both in terms of actions and dialogue are often harrowing.

The game has received some very good feedback from critics and fans alike, and I can only agree with them. It's some of the best stuff I've played in well over a year. The episodes are about 2 hours long each, so I usually just took the evening out, got a bottle of wine out and sat down through them in one go.

As with the TV show, the themes are very mature. Gore, violence, profanity and really fucked up shit in general, it's all there. But also genuine moments of compassion and loss. It's defo not a kids' show.

Absolutely recommended, and I can't wait for season 2. Instabuy.

P.S. I played it with a gamepad, made more sense with the QTE stuff and the quick decision making. I can recommend it, but I'm sure it works just as well on a k+m.
P.P.S. Here is the trailer for episode 1 for a better idea of what to expect than the trailer posted above. DOn't look at the trailers for episodes 2-5 if you don't want spoilers. :)
