Today came another indicator that a new installment in the Hitman saga is in the works. Square Enix has filed a trademark application (spotted by Siliconera) for the term "Hitman: Absolution" with the trademark registry for the European Union. The filing was done through Square Enix's British arm, formerly known as Eidos Interactive before the publisher was bought and absorbed by the Japanese company in 2009.

Fingers crossed its not consol-ified action game.

Judging by their record, it's going to be fully blown console bullshit.

I loved the last hitman. Loved it so much I'd have its babies.

To be fair, Blood Money was already cross-platform when it came out and was an excellent game on PC. So...things may not be all bad. :) We can hope!

cool video, but he's doing it all wrong. Killing everybody is the worst possible way to beat the missions.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too when I saw it. I went like...yeah that's not very silent assassin-y.

RPS has a preview up

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/06 ... /#comments

From that it seems like it's still like the originals, the CGI trailer is just to reel in the twitchy kids.

Interesting comment on that page and quite true too, apparently 47 looks like Batman, or at least his long lost brother.

awesome:

The guard conversations were frequently very funny, whether reacting to their suspicions that you might be around, or just nattering to each other. A particularly lovely discussion took place over their shared disgust for books. 47 remains silent, but you can still somehow feel his disapproval.

lame:
Quote:
As with every single game at E3 this year, 47 has an “instinct” skill that lets him see guard positions, through what looks like some form of sophisticated sonar. But it’s cleverer than just that. He can even see where they’re going next, a fizzling line showing their future path and where they’ll stop. Quite how he can do this is not clear – perhaps sharing a publisher with Deus Ex has caused some cross-pollinating – but it means tactical positioning is a fun option.

The user comments make me want to kill humanity.

Anyway, looks interesting. The mechanics look solid... strangling, changing clothes, all that good shit. I'm curious how linear it is... the video made it seem very linear after a point, but that doesn't necessarily make it so. As long as there are a ton of different ways to tackle a mission, I'm totally cool with it.

Post Re: Hitman: Absolution
Its probably the opening mission. As the comments mention in the previous instalment the opening missions was also linear.

True, though it seems awfully difficult for a first mission. That's a ton of cops to put holes in you.
