Derf and RPS got me hooked on this game. The concept is brilliant, and it's fucking addictive. Give it a spin and you'll see what I mean.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to be very good at it at any difficulty other than normal.

Wheras I pwn it on Hard - to the point of quitting out of boredom.

I'll try on Harder soon.

This game is surprisingly cool. I wish it was saveable, as I don't feel like continuing to play at the moment.

BTW, one of my concepts for a game was something awfully similar to this.

*edit* it does save! Nice.

Haha, let me know how you fare on hard. I always do well up to a certain point, then it all comes crashing down. Still not sure what I do wrong compared to Derf (altho my patience is clearly not as big as his).

Haha, dude you finish a game when I am barely 50% in. It's not a complex game, but I like to take my time to make sure i'm not taking any unnecessary risks.

Although i'm not really sure what you're doing wrong. Hard to tell without watching you play. Maybe it's how you prioritise stuff? I've only played 3 times, but each time I prioritised stuff in the following order:

Early Game:
1. Recruit
2. Food

Midd-ish game:
1. Recruit (& try to grab a school)
2. Living space
3. Food
4. Happiness

Mid-Game on-wards:
1. Recruit / train soldiers
2. Research
3. Start taking territory

Basically, some form of communist battlecruiser macromanagement strategy.

I just finished (and won) a game on hard, so BEGONE FOUL CURSE!! ;)

I'm not sure what I did differently this time. I think it was grabbing a hospital early and getting a little luckier on random deaths (altho Derf, my leader, did get pinned under some rubble early on  ). I think the biggest difference was doing what Derf did, when facing zombies always try to go for less than 10% danger (preferably 5). It seems the % not only determines mission success as a whole, but also the chance of you losing a guy. Early on that is really a pain in the ass.

Once I researched antivenom (not cure) the game became a joke. You get MASSIVE bonuses in combat, both in and outside your base. I'm pretty sure I could do it on harder now. :) It'll be a struggle at first, until you get to the antivenom I reckon.

Oh and I won by capturing the entire map this time. :)

Good man. Thanks for killing me as the leader. Next time I play, i'll try to return the sentiment :)

Oh hospitals, forgot about them. They're bottom of my list of priority.

Also, i've been playing on 12 x 12 maps, not 10 x 10.

Yeah, Harder is a whole different kettle of fish. Not sure there's much room for strategy here. The

Haha, I probably ragequit the sentence.

I just quit another game. It's just ridiculous on Hardest and not in a fun way.

Wtf? How? How many turns in are you?

Author:  Rinox [ Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:44 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Rebuild

Nevermind, that attempt failed. about 30 turns in.

Protip:

Harder is impossible without getting a lucky starting position (with food, school, hospital, lab all for grabs).

Nightmare is absolutely impossible without having a lucky starting position AND taking complete irresponsible risks (sending survivors out on 35% zombie killing missions etc).

:(
