Magicka, the 4-player co-op game (that doesn't take itself too seriously) where you play up to 4 wizards kicking ass is apparently out in a few days! 25th of January to be exact. It's made by Paradox Interactive who are pretty cool, and the game looks like heaps of fun. I'll probably buy it unless I read some horror stories about it first. :)

Check the launch trailer

Or the funny "explanation" vids on how the game was delayed

Interesting, and Paradox are good, but i'll have to see the mechanics before buying. I'm all good with co-op but with RPG's it can be problematic.

It's not an rpg at all I think, more like Diablo (and probably much less complex) than anything else. :)

This is promising: Spell Check: 5 Mistakes To Avoid In Magicka

Quote:
#1: It’s Freezing
What is technically possible: Deploying a close-range blast of ice to freeze a massive monster in its tracks, allowing one of your friends to quickly throw a rock at the frozen creature to shatter it into a thousand pieces.

What you will do: Deploy a blast of ice to freeze a massive monster in its tracks, allowing one of your friends to fling an unnecessarily large stone at it, only to miss and hit you instead, crushing your frail sorcerer instantly and sending your corpse bouncing clean out of the level. The monster unfreezes, turns and begins chasing your friend around in a Benny Hill style.

Quote:
#2: My Protector
What is technically possible: Using shield elements with the “area of effect” casting button creates a glittering, impenetrable dome, with plenty of room for the whole team. Need some time to heal? Not sure what to do next? Swamped by goblins? Just throw up a shield and huddle together to discuss your next move.

What you will do: Yell something vague over teamspeak like “GUYS, ME, BUBBLE,” and cast your shield spell with none of your team-mates actually inside it. With no small amount of horror you’ll realise that you did manage to trap a couple of goblins inside with you, though, meaning you need to get out now. Your mind races- what breaks a shield? What’s the most powerful spell you have? Of course! The arcane beam! You charge a real murder-mother of a beam as the goblins bear down on you, release it and… remember that arcane and shield are opposed elements. The beam ricochets cleanly off the inside of your dome, bounces four or five times and finally collides with you, popping your flesh and mind open like a bag of crisps. In time the dome sputters and fades of its own accord, and the two goblins within join the mob attacking your friends.

and more after the link :)

don't worry man, it'll be over before you realize it. Maybe. Assuming the world doesn't devolve into massive civil war.

I played the demo like J, and it's pretty cool. There are some issues with the controls you need to 'get' first, but once you're rolling they become pretty smooth. Most importantly, the game doesn't pretend to be serious in any way, funny as shit sometimes. :)

It's maybe a good thing we haven't tried the MP yet, since there appear to be massive problems with it. Many people couldn't even connect (!) to each other to play a game...they released a 500 MB patch on the first day after release. So yeah, if we do get around to magicka (which I hope we will!), we're best off waiting for a sale and a month or two until most pressing issues are ironed out.

Haha, yeah ok, but 10 € for a bugfest isn't worth it. :P I'll definitely organize a party on here once the bugs have been tackled (and perhaps a sale is on ;) ) because it does look awesome.

yea, let me know. I have no clue what the bug squashing status is. If and when they fix it, I'm game.

I do have a friend who has been playing this game and he says he really enjoys it. I have been encouraged to get it and play co-op. :) Always a good thing.
