Path of Exile is completely free to play - no upfront costs or monthly fees are required to enjoy 100% of the game content.

To fund the development and maintenance costs of the project, we plan to let players purchase aesthetic perks for their characters such as:
Additional character animations (for example, taunts or PvP victory animations)
Dyes and item skins
Alternate spell effects
Social pets

We will also offer some optional paid services such as:
Inter-realm/inter-account character transfers
Character renaming
You’ll notice nothing in the list above confers an actual gameplay advantage.

Uses his rod of ressurection:

Hi,

We're opening up the Path of Exile Beta for public access this weekend, March 30-April 1, so that we can stress-test our servers in preparation for entering Open Beta in a few months.

If you've been patiently waiting to try Path of Exile, now is your chance to check out the game - for one weekend only.

The game has been in Beta since August and we have been regularly adding content, classes and skills. The open weekend will include the first two acts of the game, Default and Hardcore leagues, five character classes, approximately 55 active skills, 40 support gems and hundreds of item types.

Any feedback you provide this weekend will be very useful and help us get ready for our permanent Open Beta.

We've prepared a list of frequently asked questions about the open weekend, which you can check out on our website at http://www.pathofexile.com/publicweekend/. If you have any questions, feel free to post them on the forum. See you this weekend!

Kind regards,
Chris Wilson
Grinding Gear Games

I won't have the time to play this weekend, we're going to paint the whole house (interior obviously, for the smartasses among you). Maybe Peltz will (i assume he'll have this mail if he registered), or someone else. Just thought i'd share, since i barely ever make a game-related post. :D

Grinding Gear Games is a very ominous name for a company that made an MMORPG. ;)

It's in open beta and there won't be any character wipes anymore, so basically you can start playing for real now if you want.

Didn't bother with it now, since traffic/loading and waiting times probably will be varying from annoying to insane. And i've got TL2 to play.

I'm still hearing good things about it (the CAD guy also wrote about it) so this is worth a *BUMP*

This actually looks a lot better than I thought, but like J I've had my fill of ARPG's for now. :) Maybe in the future!

Finally gave in last night. PevilLihatuh is a level 5 (or 6 maybe?) ranger.

I got sucked in after reading about the gems. They're basically materia from FF7. What's not to love? Plus the huge passive skill tree that you can work your way round in any way you like. And after playing it, it's basically D2. This is the game Blizz should have released last May.

You might have noticed it's been added to Steam (free to play) now.

I've started playing a bit, never really got into it and i must say the passive skill tree is huge and a bit overwhelming. But i'm enjoying it.
