But it’s not the only thing that’s coming. Along with it the complete SDK and code base is being released, all available for free this Monday (19th).

Valve lists the contents as follows:

Alien Swarm is a game and Source SDK release from a group of talented designers at Valve who were hired from the Mod community. Available free of charge, the game thrusts players into an epic bug hunt featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad-level tactics. With your friends, form a squad of four distinct IAF Marine classes. Plan your attack using an unlockable arsenal of weapons with countless loadout configurations against a wide variety of aliens. Blaze your way through an overrun, off-world colony, eradicating the alien infestation in environments ranging from the icy planet’s surface, to a subterranean lava-flooded mining facility.

Derf with a flamethrower ... what could possibly go wrong?

Had another look at it, it seems like there will be several classes like medic, weapons specialist etc. -> cool

Btw: you can see some of the achievements on the steampage, if you would go to another page and return, you could find out all 64 of them. I'm expecting Ox to make a list now. :wink:
On a more serieus note: there's a picture of a heavy (TF2) with a hat in one of those achievements, would be funny if it's linked a bit.

Omfg this looks awesome. And free? Valve? Surprise? I'm tempted to buy Valve's entire back catalogue AGAIN just to reward their awesomeness! :twisted:

I will unlock over 11 hours or so, so you're not missing out on much .. yet.

I wonder how the d'load will go, i'm expecting traffic to be pretty heavy.

They delayed unlock time with 3 hours appearantly.

I expect it to be "Valve time" ->not going to stay up for it, i'll see tomorrow morning if it's available yet

It's available for install now, but i'm getting the traditional "server too busy" message (as expected), so it will be for tomorrow morning after all

Got it installed as well, but i guess everyone is sleeping atm :P

Dunno when i'll have time to play, since my wife also has her vacation now, so we're at home the 3 of us, leaving me not a lot of game time but a lot of family time/road trips/etc.

I let steam run overnight to download it and I did a quick check at my PC this morning. It looks fucking awesome and hilarious, although I'm not sure how we're going to decide who'll take which role. :lol:

I would say I'm heavy weapons, but I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in that. :roll: I wonder, does your team have to consist of 4 different classes? Or can you shift around a bit?

No idea about that, i was planning to have a look at it now, but turns out my son needs to get a bath and some cloths on, so i'll have to delay that plan.

The TF2-hat is confirmed btw, finish 2 missions co-op (i think) and you unlock a hat.
