Peltz mentioned it in my "to play" thread, but since it's coming out in less than a week I guess it deserves its own thread. :)

I'm not sure what to expect of this game just yet, but the fact that it's Valve developing it makes me positively hopeful that it'll be a thrilling experience. Who knows, if it turns out to be a great game, we could all team up together some time kicking zombie ass.

One thing that leads me to believe that having non-retarded co-players will be of great importance is this little detail:

Quote:
Survivors can also share first-aid kits and help each other heal. Left 4 Dead has full friendly fire that cannot be switched off, increasing the need for caution around other Survivors.

heh...better hope you don't end up in a game with some twitchy ADD kid

oh, cool. I think I could get Shiny interested in this... she actually dug Rainbow Six Vegas 2, so she's open to FPS, but only cooperatively. Looks like this may fit the bill. Actually saw a short thing on this game on X-play last night (game review/preview show on G4 TV).

Just read the guy from CAD d'loaded it from steam.

So i checked it for price and noticed there's a demo available. So i'm installing that as we speak.

Thought i'd share this, maybe some others would like to play the demo first.

Just had my first go, started single player where you get 3 computer controlled helpers (there are 4 main characters).

Then i discovered you can also play co-op online, with 3 other players. I played that, but since there is no tutorial or so, i was sometimes a bit clueless on how to do this or how to use that. Not that it required rocketscience.

So if anyone else is going to give it a shot: post something here and we can try to arrange to play together. Always nicer to shoot zombies with people who you know and probably can trust. As in 'accidentally put you on fire' instead of 'put you on fire on purpose'. Like mentioned somewhere, friendly fire is indeed on :D

Yeah i haven't seen such an option to turn it off either. And i think it's very good. If you're standing with 4 in a hallway and suddenly a pack of 10+ zombies runs at you, things get kinda hectic. It wouldn't feel 'real' if friendly fire was off.

Well, I played with Shiny locally... setting up a dedicated server is just not working out for me. I don't know if my ISP is blocking ports or it's just a lot harder than it should be.

i never did end up playing with either Peltz or J. On a positive note, Shiny digs the game, so we'll probably be picking up the full version. If nothing else at least she and I can play it. And if we're lucky one of you guys as well.

Rinox, I've friended you.
