Post top 5 games of 2004?
Just wondering what your top 5 is of games that appaered in 2004...so, since january 1st 2004.

This is mine:

1)Half-life 2
2)Rome: Total War
3)Football Manager 2005
4)FarCry
5)Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines

I probably forgot something but bleh...and I obviously didn't play EVERY game that appaered in 2004, even if I did play a crapload of 'em. :) 2004 was a great gaming year. Ah, and remember, we're talking PC games here. No San Andreas (yet) :P

It was a lousy year for RPG's though... I didn't play many games, not enough time for it really, and my graphics card is too old for most modern games anyway (I'll get a new pc soon though). The only game I really played was Football Manager 2005 though, so that tops my list.
I also played a bit of Rome Total War at a friend, and I liked that, so I'll put that second.

erm... If I made a list, it would be very badly informed... if that makes sense...
In other words, i didn't play enough games this year!!!! Shame on me. School was too busy, don't worry I'll catch up to you guys sooner or later.... but maybe not Ox... he's kind of a freak gamer O_o

lol...I'll take that as a compliment, I guess. Looking back I did play just about all of the better games this year, so I guess. That's what you get for being a student. :) Tho Satis manages to play a crapload of games while employed. Respect.

rofl....yea, but what do I do besides playing games? Not a whole hell of a lot.

My list (no particular order)

HL2 - good overall gaming experience
Far Cry - excellent environments, graphics, good implementation of new ideas
Doom3 - First and most impressive use of advanced graphics/real-time lighting
Chronicles of Riddick - Graphics, most extensive use of shaders in any game I've ever seen, good combat dynamics, good hybrid gameplay

not sure what I'd put next, to be honest. Nothing else really sticks out at me.

Call of Duty
Doom3
Battle for Middle Earth

I havent played Hl2 but I hear its good as well as Vampires.

Farcry should not be even on a top 20 list. That game is crap-o-la

Bah, i havent kept up with games this year so i cant remember what came out this year.

If im not mistaken, nothing special came out until after 2nd half of 2004?

I can only reccommend budget titles.

Oh and, ditto on the RPG thing Ox [Ed - Arathorn] said.

I think that was J :) but it was true no matter who said it. There were some good things in the first half of the year but only one special one, ie FarCry. I can imagine not everyone played that tho, heh. But it seems like it that the trend is to release games either during summer or winter.

Was Vice City in 2004? If so, that's on my list. :)

It barely missed 2004 IIRC, same for CoD. Bah. I hate uni. Nothing like going back there after two weeks of doing absolutely nothing. :/ yay.

EDIT: Oh man...I just figured out I gotta write 3 freaking papers by the 17th, and I got scratch. That's gonna be very few gaming for a while I suppose.
