The other day Aus was on top of the medal tally for the first time ever! O_O Even if it only was for a matter of a couple of hours lol!

hehehehe, just like to mention the fact that we are whooping ass in the pool.... although once the swimming is over, our medal tally will pretty much come to a stand still!

Hah! Belgium has two bronze medals, EAT THAT! lol

Nah, seriously, Oz is doing pretty darn good again. :) To quote another aussie on another message board:

Quote:
...for a country with population smaller than a medium size American City....

.......why are we so bloody GOOD ????

With a good sense of overexaggaration regarding the "medium sized american city", hehe. Australia won gold in women's cycling too, I think. Belgium should annexate Down Under. :P ;)

That's because those people do almost nothing besides sports, just look at all those annoying Aussie tv series. ;)

Now you mention it...they DO all surf in those series ;) (here I go again)

lmao, as if half the population of Australia even know how to surf!!! lol
but yeah i was gonna bring out the whole population thing.

Oh, did anyone see the mens 3m springboard synchronised diving. Was sooo funny! Chinaman did a backwards version of a bellyflop, one team hit the board (snicker), and another totally buggered up their last dive.

muahahah i was laughing so hard!!! but then an aussie fell off their horse in equestrian :( .... i stopped laughing

Australia really rules swimming yeah, but there must be some sportsculture in your country suga. I think swimming schools are run very professional. We in belgium don`t have a history of topsporters, nor a structure for it. If we happen to be good at a certain sport (like now in tennis), most of it is coincidence, luck and the support of the family instead of state.

If we would have good professional support for would-be topsporters, you`d see me and ox right now on the olympics ;-)

There is no olypmic BG gaming competition yet. Maybe then.

Now that`s an idea, our Minister-President wants to organise Olympics in 2016 here, so they`ll have to make up some sports where belgium can get medals in. Organising olympics and barely winning a medal is a disgrace.
I still think it`s a crazy plan (organising olympics here in Flanders), if you watch tv now and see all these stadiums and people, the infrastructure, i can`t imagine where we would ever put them. They would have to level half a city first and then start building everything. It`s just a hopeless cause i think.

Still: OX FOR GOLD in 2016 !!!!

LOL, you're such a bunch of biatches. ;) On the other hand, you ARE my very first supporters, apparently. Logically speaking there must come an Olympic pc-gaming event someday..if archery and rifle-shooting are Olympic sports then I don't see why gaming couldn't be. :)

J probably has a point about the Oz succes btw, only thing I know that there is no organized sports network here. If i see that you can get a college degree by just being good at a sport in the US then we're waaaay off.

Finally some good medals for Dutch sporters: van Moorsel got gold with cycling i don't know what distance, but she got 24 seconds lead on the number two, and that's quite good. Also gold for van de Hoogeband with 100 meter freestyle swimming.
We're now on number nine of the olymic medal top ten!

Van Moorsel won the time trail.

For belgium i think Henin is the best chance for gold, she`s in the quarterfinals now. Let`s see how she reacts when she gets really tested.

Great-Britain isn`t doing so great, haven`t seen any Brit in this topic yet either. Coincidence, i think not.
