As a follow up to the Belgian voting test, let's do a European one.
It would also be fun to see what non-euros would vote for.
This test doesn't work at my home for some reason, so you'll have to wait a bit for my scores.

Heh, maybe a good idea to make a list with parties and what they stand for. All those parties are combined national parties, like PES includes the Belgian SP.A with the Dutch PvdA and the British Labour Party for example.

PES = European Socialists
ELDR = European Liberal Democrats
GUE/NGL = European United Left/Nordic Green Left
European Greens = Name explains it
UEN = The Union for Europe of the Nations, shabby site, they don't seem to have a large agenda.
EDD = Group for a Europe of Democracies and Diversities
EPP = Christian Democrats

This test is less American-oriented than the previous one, but too much EU-oriented lol. Ah well. :) Tnx for digging it up Arathorn. Could be that our American forum-pals don't know wtf most of the questions on the test are about, heh. I don't get most of them myself ;)

In short Satis , it means that you're decidely right-wing when it comes to the European Union. :) (according to the test, anyways) And you've got the Christian Democrats way at the bottom, heh. (Mention of God in European law...phuuleeez :roll: )

heh. Ok, that's what I was wondering. Yes, Arathorn, I saw your post, but it really didn't mean jack to me. Other than the greens, I have no clue what any of those parties actually stand for.

yea...heh. I'm pretty anti christian and green. That's about right. Of course, I'm pretty anti-EU too. :) Probably why I'm right wing. heh.

why are you anti-eu?

Because the EU stinks?

that's pretty much it. Who wants more government? It's not like the local governments are being removed in favor of a single, (hopefully smaller) beaurocracy. Oh, no, not at all. Just more government layered on top of the mess that already exists. Horrible idea.

Besides, all those nations are losing autonomy. I mean, if you really want to join as one big nation, then good for you. If not, then this crap is a bad idea because you're selling out your independence. And a single standing army? How long before you march on Paris? heh....actually, that doesn't sound half bad. DOWN WITH PARIS!

Certainly down with Paris! It's the reason why I hate the EU so much. Everybody should keep to the rules, except for France and their boot-licking German friends.
Wether it's budget deficits or fair competition, expect the rules to count for everybody save France. Europe badly needs economic reform, so they have decided to create a European Commisioner for it, and who's tipped as first commissioner? A German, just because Germany has a lot of power, not because Germany is so good at economic reforms, because I can't think of a pre-expansion EU country having a more hopeless economy.
Maybe the worst thing about the EU is that when Turkey joins in a few years (inevitable), half Turkey will use their wildcard to go and live here. :?

Bah, enough ranting, back to politics... oh wait, this is politics. :roll:

I'm not necessarily against the EU, as such. Just not in its current form and style. I like the disappearance of borders between EU members, the common currency etc. But I'm not too excited about complete polital/legal unity. For example, I think that the tendency to get every country on the same line about EVERYTHING is very wrong. No matter how much I'd like for every EU member to agree on say right on abortion, (legal) rights for homosexuals, legalization of (soft)drugs and so forth, it wouldn't help much if there still is a stigma in those countries against these issues. (it might quite possibly worsen ppl's reaction to them, even)

Those things were just an example of how things might not work out as well as we expect btw. But I don't agree with Arathorn on the Turkey thing, sounds highly unlikely.

Bleh, in any case, I don't really have a strong opinion on the EU. I don't know what to think of some parts, they might just as well turn out for the best/worst. I'll have to think about it a bit more. :/
