I thought you were american by that thing about Clark and Kerry you said, but wasn't sure. I'm from Belgium myself, maybe you know where that little dot on the earth is located. Telling you i'm living in turnhout, antwerpen won't be helping much either will it :P .

I might be moving soon btw, girlfriend is going to rent another (bigger) appartment, and i'll be moving in with her. All i need now is a decent job and i'm settled

Wow, Clark and Kerry huh? Did you know that Clark supported the war with Iraq? But now he changed his mind since he running for pres. Sounds like a solid guy to me..... NOT

The only person that has a chance at beating Bush is Edwards. The only one that I give any credit to is Liberman, at least he defended his postion on the war and his support for it instead of turning tail and changeing his disission like Clark.

I'm not saying he didn't change his opinion out of opportunism, but: isn't being able to change your initial opinion the mark of a sensible man as well?

P.S. btw, uni won't ever cease to amaze me: i got a comment by a doctor in english on my paper (on the American South) about the word "humongous". The guy was like "what's this?" and i'm like "erhh..what it says, humongous; enormous". He: "i'll believe you if you can find me a lemma in a dictionary". Hell yeah i will. And ppl tell me i'm incompetent. :/

The fact that i could have went for a Phd (docter) if i'd really wanted just shows that that title doesn't always mean much.

And i was talking about a decent job ox :P

lol...if something's "decent" or not is just a matter of degree of hopelessness. ;)

But that's strange man, i thought the places for doctorating in sciences in belgium were relatively limited. :/ I got a cousin who finished biomedische with greater distinction and she applied for a doctorate but wasn't deemed "good enough" cos the places were limited.

On the bright side, tnx due the slinking popularity of Germanic and Romanic languages there's more chance of getting a (paid!!) place making a doctorate for me. :) Not that i'll ever do one or will be deemed good enough but blah, details details. ;)

Much depends on your promotor, if you're lucky enough you can get one with a lot of finances. The traditional way to get money is through FWO, but only the 5 best or so in flanders get selected. You get more chances with IWT, although that wouldn't have been an option for me, due to putting my thesis ahead to september, and you need to defend a project. bla. Or you can become assistant to get money also.

But it depends a lot of you study chemistry, biomedical, or anything else. Even the year of graduation can have a lot of influence (like for FWO), not even mentioning the school you study. Like some girl from 1th Lic got an extra point in deliberation so that she had a higher distinction (highest + felicitations) so that so would almost certainly get FWO.

But i was really a bit school-sick, apart from getting a grade in my last year (which i made) there wouldn't have been a problem for me.

Got a meeting for an interim planned in 4 days, and one for an appartment in 2 days. It's next to a fancy brothel btw, with pole dancers (if that's a word, you get the picture prolly) appearantly.

More on that later. :P

I'm Belgian too. It was our UN peacekeepers they should've gotten in when George Bush commited his coup. (cf. Moore ;) ) You guys should all see that film by the way.

EDIT: Oh and I second that Ox, an intelligent man can change his mind. I mean, Georgie W. is the best example.

I went to a Randy Newman concert last night. He was great. In view of the discussion we've been having on this thread I think one of his songs is more relevant than ever.

It's called Political science

No-one likes us,
I don't know why
We may not be perfect
But heavens know we try
But all around us
Even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the Big One
see what happens

We give them money
But are they grateful?
No they're spiteful
and they're hateful
They don't respect us
so let's surprise them
We'll drop the big one
pulverise them

Asia is crowded
Europe's too old
Africa is far too hot and Canada's too cold
South-America stole our name
Let's drop the Big One
There will be no-one left to blame us

We'll save Australia
Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo
We'll build an all-American amusement-park there
They got surfing too!

Boom goes London
Boom Paris
More room for you and more room for me
And every city, the whole world round
Will just be another American town
Oh how peaceful it would be
We'd set everybody free
You'd wear a Japanses kimono baby, it'd be Italian shoes for me!
They all hate us anyhow
so let's drop the Big One now
Let's drop the Big One now...

Randy Newman is a sarcastic genius. :)
