Hey, I need advice. Do not mock much.

This is my current CV. How to improve it? (including eng. lang. corrections)

I would appreciate that, but cannot pay.

One thing:

Is "informatics science" a real phrase?

Author:  Rinox [ Fri Oct 10, 2003 12:57 pm ]
Post subject:

K...there are some spelling mistakes in there, i'll go over them systematically

->It's "curriculum vitae"

under the "experience" section:

->scratch the "i" in development
->it's "generally" instead of "genarally"
->"seperate" instead of "separate"
->"scenary"= i think you're looking for "scenario" here. (but if you do mean "background" it's "scenEry")

That's it as far as spelling is concerned i think...

-----------------------------------------------------
Then, mistakes in wording things:

under "game development and design":

->you can and should rephrase the first sentence into something simpler. Something like "Worked in two different teams" would do the job imho, and sounds less unnatural.
->"both teams have crumbled", not "has"
->"low finance abilities" would best be paraphrased as "few financial means/resources"
->"general work on sound" instead of "work on sound, generally"

under "software using":

->it's "operating systems", not "operative systems". That would mean the same as surgery systems. :)

under "education":

->"in my second year of.." rather than "on"

-----------------------------------------------------

That's about the most elementary mistakes i can see in there, i hope my yakking here helped. :)

Would any native english speaker care to have a good look at the CV as well for GF? I mean, i think my english is a-ok but it's still better to have a native speaker in aye. ;)

I'm sorrying Rinox, but you're wrong. It is separate. http://dictionary.com :)

Well, just to be a bastard and make this thread longer, I'm going to just paste in the resume and edit it manually. What's CV mean, btw? It's just a resume to us dumb Americans.

(start Resume)

Michael Angelkovich
curriculum vitae: programming, computing and informatics science that should be either computer science or information technology

PDF version
RAR-ed PDF

Base:
Name: Michael Angelkovich
Gender: Male is gender necessary?
Born on: January 24th 1983. drop the period after 24

Knowledge:
Programming
Master programming in C/C++
Moderate programming in Win32 API
Extensive programming in OpenGL
Experience in DirectX programming

WEB works I'd probably say 'Web Development'
Master knowledge of XHTML
Moderate knowledge of XML
Advanced knowledge of DHTML
Advanced programming in JavaScript
Moderate programming in CGI

Experience:
Application Development (My works) I would get rid of (My works)

The Art! WEB development/design environment. Supports XHTML, DHTML, JS, CGI script generating. is there any reason you capitalize WEB? I usually just see it as Web.

Clypto Eye Render with extended set of abilities. Can be compiled in OpenGL or DirectX environments as independent or implemented module.

(...) Much of lesser applications. Many lesser applications.

Game Development and Design
Generally I have experience working in two separate teams (in separate times). The first team worked on an Arcade 3D FP shooter in 1999-2000. The second team worked on a 3D F-TP SF Adventure in 2001. Both teams have crumbled because of financial difficulties. I'm still in contact with the main programmer who worked on the 3D Engine on the first team and we plan to start round three soon. I would recommend replacing 'start round three' with 'begin a new project' or something more professional sounding

Development of AI system
General 3D Engine structure

Design Work on the scenery
Work on music (composition and digital soundworks) soundworks? Soundtrack maybe?
Work on sound, generally maybe 'work on sound effects
3D Artist

Software used:
2D Design:
CorelDRAW! 9.0 pack

3D Design / Modeling:
3D Studio MAX R3
AutoCAD

Composition / Soundworks: soundtrack again? Soundworks is less of a real word and more just a product name
Creative Labs soundworks toolkit
Finale
SF Sound Forge 6.0

Home publishing:
Adobe Acrobat 5.0
MS OfficeXP

Other:
MS VS 6.0 environment

Operating systems:
Linux console why 'console'? Can't it just be Linux?
Windows ME
Windows 2000

Education:
1990 - 1998 Basic school "Jovan Dučić", in Belgrade. (finished)

1998 - 2002 High Technical School: "Polytechnical Academy", in Belgrade. (finished)

2002 - I'm currently student on Faculty of Mathematics, in Belgrade, where I am on my second year of Computing and Informatics studies. Informatics is definetely not an English word. Information Technology? Computer science? Something. If you explain what it is, I maybe be able to help come up with a better name

in the education section, you had periods after all the dates. I recommend removing them.

(end resume)
