Awesome news Pev! :-)

Are things still looking good/stable? Gland waking up again yet?

Won't know until early Nov when I have to go in for some blood tests. Let's hope so, it can vary, some peoples glands have woken back up almost straight away, someone the other day said hers is just waking up after 16 years!

I had my follow up appointment with the surgeon yesterday; all seems to be going well as far as just recovering from surgery is concerned. But oh my god, I knew Cushing's had wrecked me before surgery but after... to get to the hospital it's maybe half a mile walk from my flat to the train station, then probably the same again at the other end from the station to the hospital. I'm doing all this on double crutches. That used to tire me out for the next day but that was it. Today however I feel like I've run 3 marathons and then done 100 sit ups. I ache EVERYWHERE. Little different to 20 months ago when I was walking 8 miles a day 5 times a week and doing 2 hours of aerobics as well each week!

Ouch! Let's just hope it's your body adjusting to the new reality then eh! And that it'll get the message soon from your gland. ;-)

Crossing my fingers for good news!

29th Feb is Rare Disease Day and I realise I haven't bothered updating this in a long time so here ya go. Have a terrifying pic of me the night before my surgery and a slightly less terrifying pic of me today, 4.5 years later :)

By the looks of it, you were victorius! :D. The change is quite remarkable, you could very well be considered your own daughter without context.

haha I know right? Crazy to look back at. It makes me appreciate pictures of me from before Cushing's a lot more too (never liked pics of me). I am indeed victorious, I'm still in remission and my cortisol levels are all normal so I am no longer on replacement steroids either. There are some lingering problems but overall I'm mostly normal now (or as normal as I'll ever be  )

Oh wow, congrats. That can't have been an easy journey. I'm glad you won that fight, and I'm sure you'll continue to win any future fights that may be coming.

Holy shit, what a difference! Congrats Pev!! :) I'm so glad you kicked the cushing out of Cushing's! It's been (and is) a long road but you were victorious. 8-) 8-)

As for not liking your pictures before Cushing's...always reminded of that Sunscreen song

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….
