Post English Football
Just came back from a tournament.

Matches were 13 minutes long.

We were the only team who doesn't play in a league, so we didn't make it to the knockout stages, predictable. No worries however. It's about playing well, not winning (unless you're a pro).

13 minute matches... This is why English football is doomed to remain in the stone-age. How do you teach or promote control of the game if it lasts only 13 minutes?

They probably didn't have enough pitches to get longer games for all the times (or it'd stretch out over days). Still, 13 is a strange number.

Been playing some smaller tournaments here too. I'm not a great football player by any means but did pretty well by virtue of decent team play. Let the good players do the attacking work, and have the lesser players stick to their positions/defensive work while running into gaps once every while. Most of the teams that play in these tournaments are a collection of selfish football players, where everyone thinks they're a great player. No one wants to defend. So they lose. :)
