Some guy apparently made his own pulse-laser pistol: It's not that powerful, but it's supposedly powered by just four Li-ion batteries, allowing for 50 shots, which is quite awesome. |

Interesting. Obviously not all that powerful, but still dangerous. I wonder how long before someone starts shooting these at airliners. the world is full of stupid people. I think someone pointing a laser at an airline should be considered [number of passengers and crew] attempted manslaughter. Err, anyway, lasers are freaking cool. As are coil guns and rail guns. |

I wish I could build laser guns. Literature studies doesn't properly prepare you for that. |

that little cannon puts out a surprising amount of damage. I wonder how badly it would injured a person. |

That is pretty cool I know from an old insane cubicle mate that CRT's can take some hard blows (as my cube mate repeatedly stabbed one with a knife once) so that is a good amount of power. |

O'cram put an axe to a CRT once. First hit bounced right back. 2nd went through. Still we were like :O I don't know how much damage that mini cannon would do, but i'd like to have one on my desk at work |

Looks like Satis and Shiny will be outside the direct impact of a potential yellowstone explosion. Scary though. |

oh, I thought we were in the danger area. *shrug* It's ok, we're in some super-disaster-affecting area of one sort or another. I'm not terribly concerned. |

Yeah, looking at some "massive natural disasters waiting to happen" countdowns it looks like we're all in for some sort of super-zomg-thing one way or another. Central Europe (Germany et al) seems surprisingly stable though - no fault lines, no (real) sea nearby, stable climate. Of course, they'll probably get the meteors instead. |

lol, as I was reading your post I was thinking meteors. somewhat related, check out this video: http://vimeo.com/11386048 It's compiled from the Cassini spacecraft's flyby of Saturn. It looks like a computer animation, but it's made from the actual images of the Cassino spacecraft. Fucking AWESOME. |
