Yea, it's a rifle. You can't legally buy anything other than single-fire without a special license. However, it's of the 'assault rifle style' that people like Obama were blathering about. In fact, it's an AR-15 analogue, which specifically had people's ire up. It's a very modable, very popular style, though. *shrug*

Still haven't had a chance to fire it. :( BTW, it is short for a rifle, but probably not as short as you may think.

Btw, I had Galil SAR at one point during my tour of duty, it was pretty much the same length, the difference is less than an inch.

This is a pretty interesting thing: this site tracks your mouse pointer and gives you instructions on your mouse movement while doing so. But the catch is that it also recorderd countless other users' mouse movements, so you get these waves of pointers going up and down and back and forth...it's kinda fun.

(only takes about 1-2 minutes, there are some boobs in there briefly so NSFW probably)

This is crazy cool (in my opinion)

Quote:
Iodized salt is so ubiquitous that we barely notice it. Few people know why it even exists. Iodine deficiency remains the world's leading cause of preventable mental retardation. According to a new study, its introduction in America in 1924 had an effect so profound that it raised the country's IQ.

A new NBER working paper from James Feyrer, Dimitra Politi, and David N. Weil finds that the population in iodine-deficient areas saw IQs rise by a full standard deviation, which is 15 points, after iodized salt was introduced.

Quote:
The key to the level of silence is the fact that the walls, floor and ceiling absorb all sound, rather than reflecting it, as most surfaces do. Thus the term anechoic: no echo. It’s so quiet, you can hear your own organs: your heart, stomach, even your ears, which make a tiny amount of noise. It turns out that it’s not an especially pleasant experience, especially in the dark. The longest anyone has ever spent alone in the chamber? Forty-five minutes.

Cool i might be able to use that pic in my lessons.

I know silence/silent chambers are used as a means of torture as well. :)

bizarre. I'd like to try it. I bet it's like tripping on acid, when you get especially attuned to yourself. Yea... not especially pleasant when you start sensing your own organs.
