Post New Point Defense System for Vehicles
This is cool. They call it a "force field" but that's a bunch of BS. Sounds like a point defense system... a radar to identify the incoming round and some sort of ballistic weapon to shoot it down. Pretty cool, though.

Who knows if the project is cost effective. Then again, the US likes to splash cash on military projects, so by all means, give it a shot. I can see it being useful for fixed structures too.

IED detection would be the big step forward. Something like an xray, but i think there would be health issues with that. :D

Fox news is really starting to piss me off, just like Sky News here in UK. Contradictory comments and their excitement over this is so fucking unprofessional.

yea, what happened to indifferent reporting? heh.

IMO, anything that saves lives is a good thing. For a long time armor has been basically pointless. You spent millions of dollars buying something that a $10,000 missile and one guy can destroy. This kind of stuff would let tanks roll around in urban environments again. Mounting it on walls would be cool, too. And that laser system that shoots down artillery shells. :)

Mmm, i doubt it would be significant enough for tanks to stroll the streets. You still have the IED's.
