breakthroughs in medicine?
hey, check it out....
AIDS vaccine?
another cancer drug?
the cancer thing...well, cool and all, but not all that unbelievable. We have 'breakthroughs' in cancer constantly. The AIDS thing, though, would be the first of its kind that I'm aware of. Imagine an AIDS vaccine. In 20 years people will be thinking of AIDS like we do of polio.

Cancer cure, never
Aids cure, never
Why? money. Think of all the people, companies, and CEO's who make billions on cancer/aids drugs and technologies. Finding a cure of those disease would put out of some serious money. There are theories out there that there are already cures for aid and cancer but they are being supressed.

in that case, I suggest we get together, overthrow the world, and make those drugs available for everyone.
then we can make new, horrible diseases, blame them on the Chinese, and rule the world with an iron thumb.

There are also theories that the earth is flat. Plus, by that logic we would never accomplish anything.

well, we'd put me in a position of power. That's an accomplishment.

Heh...I'd go with 11b's conspiracy theorism over having Satis for president. It'd be a tough question really, weighing off neat new laws against a maniac in total power.

AIDS is a cruel deception that is maintained because so many people are making money from it. Take away this money and the entire system of mythology will collapse
To name a few. There was 1 link that had a ton of information on this subject but a while back my favorites disappeared. Im trying to find that link.

Big corporations (espescialy big pharming) are very afraid of public opinion.
They can't afford things like this coming out, so they won't hold it back. There is also a lot (though off course much less) research done by universities. I don't see why universities or the government want to hold cures for AIDS and cancer from the public. Not universities because they have nothing to win from that, not for the government because it's very bad for the economy (also for the African economy, and poor people are a good breeding ground for terrorists, while Islam is a growing religion in Afrika).
Pharming can earn more money with old-people deseases without cancer, people without cancer tend to live longer.

I dont entirely agree. How do pharmaceuticals make money by researching? How much more money will they make though actually selling a cure?

Didn't the Chinese supress a malaria drug. Not all treatment is being supressed tho. My Dad is in part of a study to research the effects of drugs for high blood pressure with arthirites.

There is, generally speaking, no point in holding back any kind of medicine. Simple because disease isn't a static entity but a continually developing one...so diseases will come and go (and mutate); pharmacy business will always have a use and clients. And when a business has clients, it's happy.
11B scenario
research: costs money
keeping it a secret if there's a cure: cost money
overall: corporation loses money.
other scenario
selling a cure: makes a lot of money
overall: corporation makes money.

Sales of medicines. But medicines have patents, so they have to develop new medicines before their patents run out, or they'll get cheap competition form countries like India.

Nope your wrong
My scenario
research: a small portion of money
keeping a cure a secret or repressing other companys from going public with a cure: small donation to congressmen
Money made from producing medicine that only helps a little so people constantly need more medication: BILLIONS
other
research: a small portion of money
selling a cure: Lots of money at first, then once everyone is cured nothing
Lets face it, how many companies do you know that make billions of dollars selling smallpox cure? Zero

Lets face it, how many illnesses stay permanently cured
how fast do viruses/bacteria evolve? As soon as you cure a disease, 20 variants of it exist. Besides, i love how we're so worried that the world is overpopulated and yet trying to keep everyone alive for longer and longer
