Post kissing in your country/region?
Following Pig's inquiries about age of consent and cousin marriages in our countries, I decided to make a similar topic asking about the (general) kissing habits.

Here in Belgium, men and women, pretty much regardless of how well they know each other, kiss on the cheeck as a manner of greeting. Women will also kiss other women on the cheeck. But men don't usually kiss other men.

However, within family context that does happen. In my family for one; I kiss my grandfather, uncles and a good few of my male cousins on the cheeck. That also has to do with the fact that they come from the Southern part of the country (Wallonia), but bleh.

So, how is it everywhere else? Do men and women shake hands somewhere? other countries were male family members kiss?

never kiss anyone except the girlfriend really, occasionally you get the odd female friend who decides they haven't seen you in so long you deserve a kiss on the cheek and a hug

never been kissed on the cheek by a bloke though

don't kiss family memebers either, not even my mum

it's not really an english thing, much more of a continental custom

most english are like franny really. very little of the 'oh darling' women/cheek kisses. I do kiss my grandma on the cheek (dont see her much so its kinda due to that) and my parents too, but i know im much closer to my family than the majority of people my age.

Yea, US is mostly that way. Always exceptions, of course, but basically kissing is what kids do to their parents, and when older what you do to your girlfriend. None of those Belgian oddities here.

Unless it's their brithday. Well, I suppose that's a hug and a kiss.

Mm, k...so nobody elsez kisses anyone on the cheeck except their kids/parents or their lovers. Logical deduction would make me the freak, but since I'm not into that: you're all freaks!! :P

Hehe...still tnx for answering so far. :) Funny how a simple custom like that varies within the West itself.

I'm not really customed to kiss other people on the cheek either.

Although i must admit that i used to take advantage of that habit to kiss the cute girls.

Yeah, kissing family/friends is pretty rare, unless you got a hot cousin.

id say i give older sister, mom, grandma and grandpa kiss on the cheek since they live so far away from me i don't get to see them all the time. now i'm a sucker for kids so the kids in the family get lots of kisses and hugs. But for anyone else hugs in my family, we're a huggie family.
i give friends hugs too now if it's a guy friend and he's hot he might get a kiss lol

but there are strange people out there and mouth kiss ewww i think the only people in my family that i'd even give a quick peck to is my mom, haley and kayla but there like my kids i helped raise them.

Yeah I agree with the rest of us British, we don't like kissing people apart from when we have to kiss relatives and kissing girlfriends. As for hugs thats the sort of thing girls can get away with and men just look gay in this country.
