Deer, Moose and fox are fairly common sightings actually. About maybe 10 years ago a moose tried to jump over a fence to my cousins yard, failed miserably and got stuck on the fence. The rescue workers sedated and hauled it back into the forest. As you can imagine cranes and other heavy equipment was involved as moving a completely limp few hundred kilogram animal is no simple task.

In Finland, on the islands, its a whole different story. There deer bands of ten basically live in your back yard, eat bad apples to get drunk, shit all over the place and eat all the flowers and bushes in the yard. More like pests. And unless you plan on hunting them, there's not much to do either.

Yeah heard that from my Finnish friends too. Also, bears and wolves can't be hunted there while they can be hunted across the border in Russia, so they tend to roam towards the Finnish side of the (long) border.

They also said that every year people die from collisions with moose on the highways. Those things are huge so it's entirely possible you die if you hit them full in the flank as they are crossing the road.

Yea it is kinda hard to imagine how large a moose is until you come face to face with one. They are huge. They make horses look like overgrown dogs. Had three of them crossing the highway about 50-100m in front of me, needless to say i slowed the f*ck down in case there's that ninja moose somewhere that decides burst from a nearby bush with the worst timing ever .

Yeah this video gives a good idea of how big they are...and this is a female, the bulls are a lot bigger still.



They're not generally very confrontational in my experience, except when it's a male during mating season or when it's a mom protecting her calves (as in this case). But yeah, I'd shit my pants if one of these things was charging me out in the open.
