In Belgium we're celebrating the end of WW I today.

In Belgium we don't have to go to the Army anymore since a couple of years (1995), otherwise Ox and I would be a veteran as well. Normally speaking.

ahh, but we're volunteers, baby!

Not that it makes a difference...in the end, everyone that was in the military was in the military, and everyone shared (roughly) the same duties and the same dangers.

Haha, fuck that shit if I were in the military...I'd find myself a job in the medical cabinet, or as a resident boot-licker for officers. Whatever keeps me out of harm's way. (and no doubt work my way up the ranks in no time) But you knew that. *recalls Satis' promise to shoot him in the back* ;)

Actually, you'd be doing your military service right now J. :D And I'd be doing it next year, if I pass. For a long time I thought I wouldn't have to go anyway because I'm the oldest of three brothers...but apparently it don't work that way. :P Nevermind, long live the end of the service! A year of my life I can dedicate to being my own bitch, as opposed to the army's.

Erh, so, happy veterans day dudes. /salutes pet mouse

Did you get a day off today too?

Hehe...I knew that we get more days off here in general, but you seem to be working at just about any day that's holiday-potential. :) Maybe you don't have to work on Martin Luther King day, though. Lol.

lol....right. I'd be pissed if I DID get that day off, and not something like veteran's day.

Bah, methinks your green asses arent veteran. In my opinion, defying the dictionary, only seasoned servicemen should be called veterans.

Post subject:

seasoned servicemen? How about you try spending 2 weeks in the desert. Then call me 'unseasoned'.

Or 3 weeks in -60 degree weather, in a tent, in the middle of the Alaskan yukon

Hehe...as long as I got fellow soldiers to hide behind, steal food/water from, sell out and use their gear I'll be fine. lol. ;)

No, but seriously...fuck the desert, I'd melt. Alaska, maybe. Did you get to kill wild animals 11b? Hunting bears with hand grenades would ROCK. (I'm not gonna be hunting it up close, hehehe)

EDIT: I guess that Derf means that you guys haven't seen a 'real' war...without necessarily meaning that your service was wuss or something. :)

We got to hunt rabbits and squirls. Setting up traps as part of "wilderness survial" training.

Lol, thats right Ox. Im just saying you havent seen any action, thats all im saying.

If we call you veterans then what do we call 10yr+ servicemen with eroded trigger fingers and nerves of steel?
