I like Roisin's solo work, but it's not as good as good old Moloko.

Beirut, with Elephant Gun

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=gsfAmkKRcFU

Maybe it's just me, but their music has an amazing melancholic feel. The man behind Beirut, Zach Condon, is only 22 years old and decided to travel around Europe at age 17. His music is the result of his coming into contact with French music and Balkan music. And with spectacular effect, I might add. :)

Shiny and I went to Ozzfest this weekend.

http://www.ozzfest.com/

Besides not staying to see Ozzie or Metallica, it was pretty cool. I saw Serj Tankian, the lead singer of System of a Down (solo side project). He's a great deal of fun. There was also Jonathan Davis, the lead singer of Korn. He was also cool. The band Hell Yeah we've seen before... and they hella sucked just like they did last time.

Anyway, it was fun. In a week and a half we're seeing nine inch nails again. I'm looking forward to that. And I'm entertaining the idea of seeing Satriani in November.

Coolio. Even though I feel NiN aren't the NiN of yonder, Trent Reznor is a genius.

Ok...so as posted previously we'd gone to Ozzfest recently. We also went to see NiN on Monday (August 18). That was probably one of the best shows I have ever seen. And that's saying something.

So, anyway, since I have this little Treo 750 I have some video to share. I apologize for the quality but this is a cell phone, after all. :)

Nin... they seriously rocked.

I'll have to check the clip at home...good to hear it rocked though (not that I expected anything less from NiN tbh)! :) What made the show so great, anyway?

It was an awesome stage show. They had these curtain-like things that lit up in colors...they could put images and all kinds of cool stuff on it. Very neat. The video shows the three of them standing in front of one of the curtains and them lighting up behind the guys as they played.

The song choice was great as well and they did a wonderful job of moving from one song to the next to keep the excitement going. Just a great show.

Has this been on here before? I'm normally not really in to it, but this must be some of the greatest 8-bit music I've ever heard: Slagsmålsklubben.

Well, I've been seriously into Dethklok for a little while now.. and they just keep growing on me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dethklok

I saw them live with Shiny a few months ago and they were really cool. I'm also totally into the animated series. It's all brilliant. Even without the hilarious lyrics, the music is extremely good death metal.

Of course, since it IS death metal, I doubt most of you will like it too much.

some vids:
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=d ... ult_group#

some lyrics:
Quote:
Do you folks like coffee?
Real coffee
From the Hills
Of Colombia

The Duncan Hills will wake you
From a thousand deaths
A cup of blackened blood
(Dying, dying)
You're dying for a cup

Guatemala blend
Ethiopian
French vanilla roast
(Dying, dying)
You're dying for a cup

Prepare for ultimate flavor
You're gonna get some milk!
And scream... for your cream

Duncan Hills
Duncan Hills
Duncan Hills

COFFEE!

I recently discovered a song I've been looking for for like 15 years. It's by Napalm Death, one of the big names in old school death metal. As always, being death metal I doubt most of you guys will dig it too much. :p

anyway, the song is 'evolved as one'. It features some very relaxed music (for Napalm Death, at least) and some very dynamic vocals. Believe it or not, the different pitches and death styles the lead singer uses is actually pretty impressive. But for people that don't like death metal, I suppose it may all sound the same.

Speaking of music I'm looking for, there's still something I want and can't find. A Doors song is based off of it, Feast of Friends. Apparently the background music is based off a classical piece... if you guys remember hte game Rise of the Triad (a FPS from the early 90s) it was actually in that game. However, I've been unable to figure out the name of song or the composer.

Albinoni's Adagio in G Minor

sheesh, today is a good day for music. From that I found a video of Yngwie Malmsteen playing his 'Icarus Dream Fanfare' which has parts of the above in it. The guy's a freakin' master of guitar, I swear. This from someone that plays guitar.

lol...looks like Satis had a productive day when he posted all this music. :) (that's not a stad, I don't ever do shit at work myself :P ) I finally got through it and some of it is pretty hawt. I like it how the biggest electronic guitar players often turn to classical pieces; I think it's because they realize that the "purity" of those is still pretty much unmatched these days when it comes to melody and feeling.

Yngwie is a God, nuff said. :) of course, everyone knows the Flamenco Diablo:
