Re: Cool Stuff
oh yea... rail guns and directed energy weapons (ie, lasers and shit) are totally the future. But badass mini-missiles are much more achievable in the short term. I think they're a great stop-gap until we can develop and miniaturize the truly advanced stuff.
This stuff always makes me wonder what weapons will looking like in 20, 50, 100 years.

a japanese car concept. It's really slow, but packs down into a pretty small footprint. and a motorcycle suit that's pretty bad-ass http://www.slashgear.com/ud-replicas-st ... -06200333/

Re: Cool Stuff
Loving the sail/surf thing. I used to sail so I kind of appreciate the skill in that, although I obviously never sailed on waves like that. As for the proton camera...it's always funny to see those MIT types talk about their stuff or tech with such a massive smile painted on their faces, because someone like me may go "that's pretty cool" but for these guys they're like "we just created something totally, insanely awesome!!".

Re: Cool Stuff
hehe...I'd love to create something like that... a first of a kind, cool ass technological gizmo. Man, that'd be awesome.

Re: Cool Stuff
This is great. Kid with a bad ticket on a train in Scotland, conductor tells him get off the train and he refuses. Big guy gets up, takes him by the neck and throws his ass off the train. May want to keep the substitles cause the Scottish is hardly intellegible at times. Now the parents of the kid (19yr old) are crying that he did pay for a ticket but that the ticket booth gave him the wrong one, so that's why he refused to get off. And that the guy throwing him off the train had no right to do so, being not affiliated to the company at all...while that may all be true, if that little scumbag yob hadn't acted like an arrogant prick he probably wouldn't have had this coming haha. Lesson: if you're a tiny little weak man and on your own, don't act tough. It actually reminds me of a time where me and my middle bro grabbed a kid that was half our size and was making threats to us on the bus, and swung him on the pavement. Of course, this was pre-mobile camera era so we didn't run the risk of becoming internet famous, thank god.

Re: Cool Stuff
Yea, this is why I avoid public transportation. And zomg at the accents. It's amazing how unintelligibly a language can become.

Re: Cool Stuff
Haha, poor foreigners - I didn't have that much trouble understanding the accent. But I guess I live in a place where all the accents are about 10 minutes apart from each other, whereas you guys would probably have a fair bit of travel before you notice an accent change? Still, I enjoy it when justice be done.

Re: Cool Stuff
Drive 20 minutes outside of Dallas and you'll hit some pretty serious country accents here. But it's different... I'm sure you'd have trouble understanding really hard southern accents... or even really strong eastern accents (like boston). It's interesting to me how widely English varies. I'm sure it's the same with some of the other languages that are spoken around the world.

Re: Cool Stuff
Yeah, even over here, in one half of a tiny country, mostly at the coast areas they speak dialects that are incredibly hard to understand for people just living 100 kms further to the East (ie, me). It just sounds like guttural caveman sounds to me. And that Scottish was ridiculous. Half the time I just heard "I UUU AAAA" or something like that. Granted the sound quality wasn't stellar but still.
