Games can be designed to either suit keybrd or pads or even mouse. e.g. Broken Sword is designed around mouse, football games can be designed around a Pad and FPS's can be keyboard (+mouse) based.




in comparison to PCs yes. But the technology race is now a practical joke. The companies will compete not by releasing a new GPU a month, but by releasing a major system every 3 or so years. Nvidia and Ati will find themselves having to share projects with console and Pc manufacturers. This could be good fun.

The idea is to keep PCs for work and these MegaConsoles for play. They just dont mix well, many people will benefit.

Without the technology we have now they couldnt make games like Farcry. We would still be playing doom 1 with our shitty voodoo 3.

Do you really think your going to be able to play Half Life 2 or Doom 3 on your geforce 4 or what ever you have? I have a ATI 9700 pro and I predict I am going to be running those games at low res.

And besides, lets run with your wish here. You wish there was a all in 1 machine. Well, even if there was a company will make a faster 1, and then the game makers will makes games for that faster console makeing your obsolete. So then you buy that one, and another company comes out with a faster better console, and then game makers start making games for that one and your console become obsolete.

No matter what we are all stuck buying better shit to play games.

Why would I want a pc and a megaconsole when I could just have a mega pc?
I would need a pc with a good gfx card for my work anyway, becoming an engineer using Pro Engineer a lot.


That's not my point, I reacted on the arguement that one of the pro's of consoles is that you don't have to install games. ow you say that's no problem because in the future you can install games on consoles.

The CPC (not amstrad, console Personal Computer) wouldn't sell to those who were "strictly console" or "strictly PC". I know it's dumb, but people are like that. I know I am. I'd rather play the Dreamcast of the PS2. Most people think I'm stupid. But the majority of PS2 games just don't have any playability. and those that do don't have any replay value.

On that note, i never got what the deal with FFX was, because although i liked it, i never got drawn in to it like most people seemed to have. but hey.

Like mole said, too many long posts, but just to re-argue this point - surely the only way to get new competitors in would be for them to have BETTER technology, and if that is the case you'd end up like we already are with consoles. In other words, the "Super PC Console Thingy 2" would be in development 2 days after the first one was released. Surely the point of having one like you're suggesting would be that it would last for like... 10 years so you didn't HAVE to keep upgrading
